Course Description: Cross listed with CI credit 1 Overview of Early Childhood Education, Unified (birth grade 3) teacher licensure requirements. Learn how to plan program and university procedures. Guest lecturers cover teacher education requirements. This course is required of all students majoring in ECE. It is graded Satisfactory fail only. Course Objectives: 1. Students will learn and understand University policies and procedures and teacher education requirements. 2. Students will be able to read and understand their Degree Audit and use it as a guide to develop their long term plan for graduation and teacher licensure. 3. Students will understand Minors, Endorsements and Specializations that can fit with an ECE degree. 4. Students will be able to put together a long term plan that will meet all graduation and teacher licensure requirements. 5. Students will set learn about required assignments that meet Standards.

What are the three Checkpoints? 2. Where do you find the Application to the Teacher Education Program? 3. What minimum scores do you need to earn to pass Praxis Core? 4. What are the eight requirements needed to pass Checkpoint 1 to enter the Teacher Education Program? This assignment is done in Blackboard. Due Session 2 Assignment 2 Long Term Plan Students will fill out Long Term plan worksheet (p.33 or 34) in PENCIL (unless you are using a computer version), starting with this semester: fill in class number/name, credits and total credits that you will need to take each semester to meet pre requisites and requirements. Use the Four Year Graduation Sample plan as a guide. Add any reminders that are listed at the bottom of each semester. (See p. 29 for more details). Students must also fill out the Curriculum Worksheet. You must account for each class you have taken and each class you will be taking, including your orientation classes and total electives. Add all of these credits to get a final total of all credits taken for your degree. Report the final total. Make sure you list both the number of credits and when you will or are going to take a class. Use this worksheet to check that you have all of your classes accounted for on your Long Term Plan.

4 Due Session 8 when the plan is without errors you will be given your RAN (Registration Access Number) Attendance Policy Students may only miss one class meeting, unless there is an emergency, illness or religious holiday. Please inform instructor if you will be missing class and this will then be an excused absence. Two or more unexcused absences will result in an automatic F. If two classes are missed for any reason other than illness an extra assignment will be required. At the first class the student will be required to read and sign the Attendance and Assignment Policies form. Attendance is validated by signing the attendance sheet. Accommodations If you have a documented disability and anticipate needing accommodations in this course, please make arrangements to see the instructor before the second session of class. You will need to provide documentation of your disability to the Student Disabilities Resources (SDR) office, located on the main floor of the Student Services Building, Room 1076, Please request that a Disability Resources staff member send a SAAR form verifying your disability and specifying the accommodation you will need. Academic Dishonesty Needless to say, we take this very seriously and expect you, as future teachers, to take it seriously as well. All of us are busy and pressures of deadlines frequently creep up on us; however, it is important to budget your time carefully so you do not fall into the academic dishonesty trap. Instances of academic dishonesty will be handled in the manner prescribed by university policy. This typically includes failing the student in the course and reporting the infraction to the Dean of Students, which may result in expulsion from the University.
