SAMPLE SCRIPT: BMCC ON AIR 2 SHOT VTR (***0N CAM: JOY & AJA***) READY CAM CUE AUDIO CUE TALENT A1-COLD OPEN : 35 2 SHOT (***ON CAM: JOY & AJA***) LWR3- JOY & AJA AJA: Thank you for joining us on BMCC on Air. On Today s show: The theatre departments of BMCC and University of Alabama, Huntsville collaborated by internet to produce a new production of Rantoul & Die, first performed in Alabama. Then the Alabama people flew up to New York where they worked with BMCC to pull together a public performance in just one day. 1
AJA: Research paper services are just a mouse click or a phone call away. Are they a valuable resource or are they simply promoting plagiarism? Joy: The CUNY Proficiency Exam, commonly Known as the CPE, strikes fear in the hearts of many students. Is there really anything to be afraid of? I m Joy Rodriguez AJA: And I m Aja Longton. And BMCC is On Air. A2 SHOW OPEN : 15 VTR CUE TAPE (SHOW OPEN) (***VTR***) (***PAUSE FOR TAPE***) 2
A3 INTRO UAH : 30 MCU SHOT: AJA (***ON CAM: AJA***) JOY: A collaboration of the arts between the north and south. an Internet exchange of ideas and materials. And one long, crazy day in New York City to bring it all together. That s the idea behind the second annual cooperative production of university of Alabama, Huntsville and BMCC. Here s how it worked: a BMCC theatre practicum class produced audio production for a play performed at the university of Alabama, Huntsville. The class, taught by prof. Johnna Doty, communicated with Alabama, created 3
the audio and sent the files down to Alabama via internet. The play, Rantoul & die by mark Roberts was then performed twice at the Huntsville, Alabama theater. Two weeks later, the cast flew up to New York City for a very challenging day... A4 PACKAGE 1: Alabama 11:00 VTR CUE TAPE (PACKAGE 1) (***VTR***) (***PAUSE FOR TAPE***) (***#1-JOY MOVE TO INTERVIEW SET****) A5 INTRO PROF. DOTY and PROF. : 10 3 SHOT INTERVIEW SET (***ON CAM: JOY & GUESTS***) JOY: Professor Johnna Doty, who led the BMCC collaborating BMCC Theatre class, and Prof. Dowling, head of BMCC s Theatre department join us today. Welcome to BMCC On Air. 4
A6 Q &A Prof. Doty & Dowling 3:30 INTERCUT LWR3 Professor Doty & Dowling Q & A: Possible questions 1. How did this collaboration come about? 2. What do the students at BMCC gain from this experience? 3. Do the Alabama students learn anything from this program? 4. Do cultural differences between the North & South interfere or enhance the program? 5. Rantoul & Die contained some language and adult themes. Were there any problems in presenting this kind of a show in a college environment? 6. Tell us about the play. 7. Were you happy with the outcome? 8. Is there collaboration in the future? A7 OUTRO Prof. Doty & Dowling :05 1 SHOT (***ON CAM: JOY ***) JOY: Thank for joining us, now back you, Aja. A8 INTRO RESEARCH PAPERS :40 5
1 SHOT Intro Set (***ON CAM: AJA-on Set 1***) AJA: BMCC students are tempted to use online research paper services that promise original non-plagiarized papers on any subject (for a price, of course). Posters, flyers, s and newspaper ads all claim help with any paper and the possibility of good grades with little or no work. What does the college administration think about this phenomenon? Do students use these companies? And are these services a valid way of utilizing online resources or are they just facilitating plagiarism? BMCC ON AIR takes us a look at this complex issue A9 PACKAGE #2- Research Papers 5:30 6
VTR CUE TAPE (PACKAGE 2) (***VTR***) (***PAUSE FOR TAPE***) (****Joy BACK TO INTRO SET****) A10 INTRO: CPE :40 JOY SHOT (***ON CAM: JOY***) JOY: C-P-E. These 3 letters spell fear for many students. Ask 10 different students about their experience with the CUNY Proficiency Exam and you may get 10 entirely different answers. Many students wish that they could avoid the exam in their years at BMCC. Some students say that they aren t worried at all about the CPE and a few know very little about the test. But in order to graduate, all students have to take and pass the 7
CUNY Proficiency Exam. Like the old saying goes "you can run, but you can t hide." However, there is a program that helps students not only overcome their fears of taking the exam, but gives them a better chance of passing it. A11 PACKAGE 1: CPE 1:30 A12 SHOW OUTRO :15 2 SHOT MUSIC (***ON CAM: Joy & Aja ***) AJA #1: That s our show for today. Thank you for joining us. I m Aja Longton JOY: And I m Joy Rodriguez. Please check you local listing and the CUNY TV website for the next edition of BMCC on air. 8
