Wagner Title: Professor Course Prefix and Number: MAT 096 B281 Course Credit Hours: 2 Course Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in MAT 126 Course Title: Supplemental Mathematics Catalog Course Description: Provides academic support for students scoring below the system-wide standard into a quantitative-reasoning course. Serves as supplemental co-requisite for students with borderline test scores, as defined in the KCTCS course placement policy. If students withdraw from MAT 096, they must also withdraw from the co-requisite course. You can view the online textbook so the textbook is not necessary. Additional Supplies: Calculator use is optional. The preferred model is the TI-30XIIS scientific calculator. Law of Cosines Course Structure: Students will complete assignments in class as well as in MYMATHLAB which is an online tutorial and assessment program. Math skills will be reinforced and math learning techniques will be discussed Technology/Media Component: Students will use MyLabsPlus to complete homework assignments and tests. Service-Learning: Course Requirements and Evaluation: Your grade will be determined by classwork, attendance, homework and quizzes in MYMATHLAB. 40% will be from classwork, 10% from attendance, and 50% from the grade earned in MYMATHLAB. I will give you the full 10% if you miss 3 or less classes. After you have missed 3 classes, I will deduct 1% for each class that you miss. Attendance matters!!! Grading Policy: The scale below shows the relationship between your semester percent average and the letter grade you will earn: 90% to 100% A 80% to 89% B 70% to 79% C 60% to 69% MP 0% to 59% F (Failing grade, student must repeat the course.) Attendance Policy: Students are expected to log into the course and complete assignments on a daily basis. Students who fail to log into the course at least two times per week and complete assignments are considered inactive and will receive a Starfish Notification. Attendance counts 10% of your grade! Missed Exam Policy: There will be no exams in this class. Late Assignment Policy: A grade of zero will be assigned to any missed assignment. If you have a valid excuse I may let you do make up work with a reduced grade. You need to me with excuse, and the sections/quizzes that

5 need to be opened. I will only allow you to ask for make up assignments once during the semester, so please pay attention to the deadline date. Withdrawal Policy: A student can withdraw from the course at his or her discretion and receive a W until the Thursday before finals week. Do not wait until Friday because I may not be in my office to give you permission to withdraw. The student should keep in mind that withdrawal from MAT 096 requires withdrawal from MAT 126. After midterm, the student will be allowed to withdraw from MAT 096 only if the student receives permission to withdraw from his or her MAT 126 course. The student is responsible for being aware of the proper procedure to withdraw from a course and should contact the Admissions Office for further information. The last date to withdraw with instructor permission is April 28, No incomplete (I) grades will be given in this course. Additional information can be found at the following site:
