Gap 1: Teacher Retention P-2: Support the Retention of Effective Teachers Equity Intervention Selected to Address Equity Gap #1 Describe how the Equity Intervention will be 1) implemented, 2) monitored, and 3) measured for effectiveness in the current fiscal year. Personnel Implementation Responsible School principals, assistant principals, and instructional site facilitators will participate in job embedded professional development Teaching and Department, Principal Coaches Monthly August 2016-June 2017 Professional development provided during Early Release Days for teachers; offer coaching endorsements and teacher support specialists classes, and TAPP classes Teaching and Department, Principal Coaches Monthly August 2016-June 2017 District Cross Functional Team-CFT (HR department in collaboration with Teaching and ) will develop an action plan to support and retain effective teachers Monitoring Implementation Review monthly logs from Principal Leadership Coaches, Teacher Development Specialists, and teacher mentors Schedule for onsite focus walks and logs Chief Academic Officer and Chief of HR Personnel Responsible Director and Coordinator for Professional Develop plan August- September, Implementation September 2016-May 2017 Monthly from August 2016 June Page 1 of 7

Gap 2: CCRPI Equity Intervention Selected to Address Equity Gap #2 PL-2: Provide Targeted Teacher Development on Content and Pedagogy Describe how the Equity Intervention will be 1) implemented, 2) monitored, and 3) measured for effectiveness in the current fiscal year. The description should include the personnel responsible by position and timeline for implementing, monitoring, and analyzing data to determine effectiveness of implementation. It should also include the data that will be gathered and analyzed to determine effectiveness. Implementation Personnel Responsible Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) training for teachers, paraprofessionals, instructional support staff, and administrators Teaching and LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) will provide educators with a core understanding of language structure and help them gain in-depth instructional information to complement their teaching practices. LETRS will bring a deeper knowledge of reading instruction by addressing each component phoneme awareness; phonics, decoding, spelling, and word study; oral language development; vocabulary; reading fluency; comprehension; and writing. Teaching and K-12 Science Summer Content Training: professional development for K-12 science teachers with a focus on engaging students in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) including content, inquiry, engineering, literacy and collaborative planning. Using Data to Improvement Vertical Alignment: Teachers will meet in multi-level school clusters in order to learn how to analyze grade level and longitudinal data in order to identify trends and areas of improvement. Teachers will be trained in matching instructional practices to the specific needs indicated by data. Teaching and Teaching and Page 4 of 7

5 Building Mathematical Proficiency in K-12. The goal of this course is to equip teachers with the skills, understanding, and tools required to help students develop mathematical proficiency. Teachers will learn to use the content standards to teach the mathematical practices and the strands of mathematical proficiency. Teaching and K-12 Social Studies Summer Content Training: professional development for K-12 Social Studies teachers with a focus on engaging students in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) including content, teaching with document based questions, and disciplinary literacy. Integrating the reading, writing, and language standards during Language Arts Instruction -Teachers will explore best practices for integrating the components of literacy in order to require students to demonstrate mastery in a variety ways in an effort to optimize students Teaching and Teaching and Monitoring Implementation Personnel Responsible During session one, teachers will take an assessment to determine their content knowledge. After session three, teachers will take a post-assessment to determine growth in their content knowledge. Following each session Collaborative planning notes and observations will be conducted to ensure teachers are sharing strategies and application of strategies with colleagues There will be a walk through and modeling session where information will be gathered regarding the use of the strategies during the regular class period at each school.
