How do you solve simple equations and inequalities? For example, what process is used to solve an addition equation? Subtraction? Multiplication? Division? 4. What does it mean to combine like terms? Explain. Give an example to demonstrate. 5. What is an ordered pair? 6. Fill in the table below by finding ordered pairs for the equation 3. Then Graph the equation using the ordered pairs from the table. x 3 (x,y) What are the 3 MOST IMPORTANT things to remember from chapter 1? Be specific!

How do you accomplish this? Give an example. 3. How do you multiply 2 fractions? Do you need a common denominator? Give an example. 4. How do you divide 2 fractions? What is the special trick? Give an example. 5. What is a square root? 6. Which square roots do you know without using your calculator? List them. 7. What s so special about PERFECT squares? 8. Can square roots be estimated without a calculator? If so, how? Given an example.
4 CHAPTER 4 COLLECTING, DISPLAYING & ANALYZING DATA 1. Describe the terms sample and population, how they are related, and what we might use them for. 2. What are the 3 types of sampling methods and how are members chosen in each method? Sampling Method How members are chosen 3. What is a stem and leaf plot and what is it used for? 4. Create a stem and leaf plot for these quiz scores: 70, 70, 81, 82, 85, 88, 88, 90, 93, 95, Describe the terms mean, median, mode, and range and find each for the quiz scores above. 6. Create a box and whisker plot for the quiz scores. 7. What are some ways in which graphs and statistics can be misleading? What should we keep an eye out for? Give an example. 8. What is a scatter plot and why might you create one? 9. What are the different types of correlation you would expect to see on a scatter plot? Draw and explain.
