2 To Know, To Do, To Be - Together Pursuing personal best at Notre Dame Campus Emmanuel College works with the families it serves to provide a challenging, Catholic education for young men and women in the Marianist tradition. Comprising student leaders from every year level and House, they act as the voice of the student body and give crucial feedback to inform the decision making of the College. I have learned so much from the other leaders in the school. I can now see what a positive impact I can have in our school. Ciara Year 10

8 PASTORAL Pastoral Care CARE Camp was amazing, so many different things to do with new friends. It was great to try new activities. Stella Year 7 YEAR 7 LIFE TO THE FULL PROGRAM The Year 7 Life to the Full Program aims to nurture and support the transition from primary to secondary schooling. The program addresses a range of topics around adolescent growth and development, social interaction and friendship building, resilience and a growth mindset for academic achievement.

9 TEACHING Teaching and Learning AND LEARNING The teachers have really worked hard to help me settle in. I always feel comfortable to get extra help and support when I need it. This is achieved through their hard work, perseverance with challenging academic work, and clear teacher feedback about learning progress and next steps.

Providing anywhere anytime access to learning enables students and teachers to create, communicate and collaborate locally and globally.

11 TEACHING Teaching and Learning AND LEARNING PROJECT AND PROBLEM BASED LEARNING Project and Problem Based Learning develops skills necessary for success in a rapidly changing world, including teamwork, problem-solving, communication and independent learning. Mastery of content and deeper learning result from problem-solving and collaboration in projects which engage and challenge. Students have to think and develop responsibility for their own learning. The Honours program provides opportunities to pursue more complex and challenging projects.

12 PERSONALISED LEARNING TEACHING Teaching and Learning AND LEARNING At Emmanuel character is built not through lectures but through the experience of perserving as students confront challenging academic work. They develop a growth mindset that intelligence can grow through embracing challenge and effort and practise is the path to mastery. Sticking to it when things get difficult is supported by their sense of connection and belonging and belief they can suceed.

13 TEACHING Teaching and Learning AND LEARNING 21ST CENTURY SKILLS The College aims to provide students with the skills necessary to be successful in the 21st Century to be independent learners, self-directed, ethical, spiritually centred and emotionally intelligent, able to relate and collaborate in our interconnected world. The range of senior pathways available, careers education, rigorous academic learning and well-targeted preparation for exam success supports their achievement in the senior years as well as in a successful post-secondary pathway.

17 EDUCATION Education in Faith IN FAITH SOCIAL JUSTICE PROGRAM In a spirit of gratitude for our many blessings, Emmanuel students reach-out to others through fund-raising, volunteering for our local soup van, sharing the experiences of the needy through the Winter Sleepout and Below the Line, and working with indigenous communities. We aim to build both their awareness of the challenges for justice in our world and the capacity to make a difference.

18 BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Beyond the Classroom At Emmanuel College, students are encouraged and challenged to be their best through a range of activities. These activities include; year level camps, outdoor education, interschool connections, performing and visual arts, interstate and overseas tours and a drivers education program. Students learn more about themselves and others and experience a rich range of opportunities to live life to the full.

19 BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Beyond the Classroom PERFORMANCE The Musical Production, Performing Arts Showcase and College Choir encompass the many dimensions of performance singing, acting, dancing, costume, prop and set design, make-up, sound and lighting production, back-stage management and front of house, photography and video recording, scripting, direction, editing and animation. Crafting a performance, with the assistance of peers and teachers, is a magical experience and allows our talented and hard-working students to shine.

20 BEYOND Beyond the Classroom THE CLASSROOM GLOBAL EXPERIENCES Travel overseas allows students to broaden their understanding of the world as they are immersed in new cultures and interact with people from many different parts of the world. Students in Years 10 to 12 can participate in an overseas tour to Italy or Japan or attend the NASA Space Camp in the USA. Seeing NASA was incredible. To be at the place where people actually leave our planet was really a once in a life time experience. Michael Year 11

21 BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Beyond the Classroom I love the chance to represent my school against others. It s a bit like the best versus the best. Marissa Year 7 INTERSCHOOL COMPETITION The College is a member of the Sporting Association of Catholic Coeducational Secondary Schools and the Debating Association of Victoria as well as a range of other regional and state competitions. Interschool events provide students with the opportunity to be involved in healthy competition, work with their teacher coaches, meet students from other schools and to test and improve their skills. The College s Soccer Academy supports students to develop leadership skills as well as the qualities of honour and fairness.

22 PARENT Parent Connections CONNECTIONS The growth and flourishing of students is best achieved through a strong partnership with parents, the first educators of their child. We engage with parents in a range of ways about decisions concerning their child s education. Good communication is essential as we work together to build strong, warm relationships with the young people in our care and establish strong expectations regarding them being their best. In one term, I have had three positive phone calls and a positive from teachers about my child s progress. I am convinced I have made the right choice. Matilda - Parent
