2 ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: Today s Banking has thrown up enormous opportunities and challenges. Banks, to be successful, need to have human resources with a cutting edge over competitors. This calls for effective training initiatives. Again, if training has to be effective, well groomed faculty members in various bank training establishments is imperative. This programme will impart the necessary set of training skills to banks, banking institutes and financial institutions faculty, to enable them to be effective in their training function. The focus of the Programme is on Faculty Development, and aims to improve Presentation Skills, developing Comprehension, Conceptualization, Creativity and Conduct and Control over the class. Programme methodology: 1. Interactive Class room sessions Group discussions Practical sessions on designing a training programme, preparation of session plans, developing reading materials, power points and presentation skills Discussions of group dynamics and 5. Soft skills including communication, motivation, empathy and leadership skills through class room sessions and videos Programme contents: Broadly, the Programme will cover the following modules: Learning Styles - VARK (Visual, Aural / Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic), Self-assessment Effective communication as a primary tool for training Factors affecting training effectiveness - A URA (Attention, Understanding, Retention, Application) Developing exercises and games for training Designing of training sessions- Training Needs Analysis, setting objectives and detailed design Improving presentation skills Managing feedback Designing courses and course delivery Developing end of training test material and conduct of test 2

3 Programme outcome: At the end of the programme, the participants will be able to: Work as a trainer in a banking institution. Identify the characteristics of an exceptional trainer. Understand and identify different behavioral styles and adapt training as necessary. Participants will demonstrate their understanding of new material through completion of case studies. Describe a need analysis and why it is a necessary step in any training programme. Explain various methods for making lecture-based programs active. Develop strategies for handling disruptive participants. Point out the highlights and pitfalls of various visual aid options. Present information in a clear, concise, engaging manner. Develop EQ, Social intelligence skills. 9 15.45 to hrs Faculty profile Dr. R. Bhaskaran Chief Executive Officer Dr. R. Bhaskaran is a rank holding post graduate in commerce from Madras University. He holds a PG diploma in Financial Management, and a PG Diploma in Treasury and Forex management. He is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance and a Certified Treasury Manager. He has worked in Bank of India and NABARD. He was Chief General Manager of NABARD before he took over as CEO at IIBF. He obtained his PhD in Banking from the University of Pune. He has published three books and many articles in the area of Banking & Finance. He worked as Joint Director and thereafter as Director in charge of Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD). He is a leading consultant in the area of Banking Education and Training. S. Venkatesh, Director, Training Mr. Venkatesh has experience of nearly four decades with Bank of India in different Managerial positions. He retired as Deputy General Manager and Principal of their Apex College. He was also the Principal and training in charge at Chennai and Patna training collages of Bank of India. His exposure in training and HR spans over 10 years in Bank of India. 9

10 He worked for four years in Hong Kong Centre as Alternate Chief Executive in charge of Forex, ALM and Funds Management and was member of Treasury Managers Association in Hong Kong. Dr. T C G Namboodiri Joint Director (Faculty) Dr. Namboodiri is a Ph.D in banking and a post graduate in economics with CAIIB. He has more than 33 years of experience in banking. He was Chief Manager and a Member of Faculty at Union Bank of India Staff College, Bangalore. He later worked as Asst. General Manager in Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd; at Head Office Karur, in the Credit Department. He has written several articles in Banking and Management. His Book on Credit Appraisal is well received among the bankers. His areas of interest are training, corporate credit, corporate governance and business ethics. The Institute will also use many external faculty such as Head of credit counseling centre at Mumbai, Resource person form an NGO, Professor from a B School in Mumbai and former Head of IT in a public sector bank. 10
