5 Important Dates Weekly check-in during office hours is required. Course dates: June 10, 2011 through July 18, Final Exam: Course 3 Scullen Middle School. July 18, a.m. Pre-Algebra Scullen Middle School. July 18, a.m. Makeup date- August 8 th Time and Location TBD. Makeups are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by teachers. Makeup requests must be made by June 15 th. Parent Contact: Teachers welcome conversation about the course and student progress. This can be through telephone, Blackboard Collaborate or traditional meeting. Please contact the teacher assigned to your student. Updates and announcements will be posted in Apex. Due Dates: The due dates in the course are guideline dates to assist with pacing.

7 Pacing-How much should I expect to work? Self-discipline is a characteristic of a successful online learner. You should schedule time to study each day. Put the study time in a calendar, and plan on working 4-6 days per week. See the pacing chart for your course.
8 Grades Final Exam grades will be reported to parents, middle schools, and you through the student information system (eschool). The grades will not appear on any transcript or official school record. Schools will use them for placement for next year, so excellent learning is expected. Grades will indicate what you have learned during the summer session. Grades are accessible throughout and after the course end date by accessing your eschool (Home Access Center) account. Your student should see their registration in eschool beginning on JUNE 10 th.
9 Login for APEX Apex is the student learning program they will be navigating through this summer. Username and Password to be ed by your teacher to the address in the SIS. Run computer check up
10 Apex Features Check reports for your progress. Check your individual information sheet for your login information. You can change your password in the My Profile section. Please enter or edit your address in the personal information section under My Profile. The Orientation will help you navigate. Go through this section.
11 Parent Communication Parents will receive an update each Sunday afternoon. Be sure your address is updated in eschool. Contact your teacher through when necessary. They will respond within 24hrs. (Remember they are on summer break as well.)

14 Course Navigation 1. Log into Apex to begin lesson 2. Find the next lesson according to the due date report 3. Complete the study sheet for the lesson by either printing it out or putting your work in a notebook. The study sheets will be turned in at the final exam. All work must be shown. 4. Complete the Checkup: Practice Problems 5. Take the quiz and score over 80%, move to next lesson. 6. Take the quiz and score less than 80%, students must redo test. Only three chances in total to get over 80% before it s locked and a conference must be scheduled with the instructor Study Sheet

17 Math Notebook In mathematics, it is necessary to show your work. Don t feel as if you need to print out the study sheets. Please have students use a regular notebook for the any study sheets problems and the practice problems from each lesson. The teachers will review the notebook at the final exam.
18 Required Weekly Office Hours Your teacher will have office hours. Weekly attendance during office hours is required. You can attend either session. You will be using software called Blackboard Collaborate. You will be ed a link to this virtual classroom by June 5 th. You will use this link to login to office hours.
