1 Kangaroo Connect Portal Training Tutorial USER ROLES PUMP ASSIGNMENT CREATE AND EDIT FORMULAS ATTAINMENT REPORT FEEDING HISTORY REPORT PUMP RECERTIFICATION Welcome to the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal Training Module. Through this tutorial, you will be provided with an opportunity to learn how to use the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal. To navigate through this tutorial, scroll through the document, reading the slide and the slide notes before scrolling to the next page. Plan to spend about 30 minutes learning the content. 1

2 INTRODUCTION The wireless enabled Kangaroo TM Connect enteral feeding pump, in conjunction with new wireless accessories, will provide a platform for remote data collection allowing clinicians to more efficiently monitor feeding rates and review actual history to help improve patient outcomes. The Kangaroo TM Connect Portal is an accessory of the Kangaroo Connect Pump. The Kangaroo TM Connect Portal is a web portal to access pump information remotely. The following training will provide you with information related to the use and operation of the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal. Thank you for your attention to this training Cardinal Health. 3 INTRODUCTION The wireless communication capabilities of the Kangaroo TM Connect enteral feeding pump allow a patient s care team to remotely view pump activity, 24/7. The following are functions available within the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal: Obtain past enteral feeding formula delivery data View trends related to patient demographics and prescriptions Generate an Attainment Report of feeding delivery Facilitate remote pump troubleshooting Complete remote pump certification The data within the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal can only be viewed by users who have been registered to access specific pumps. The Kangaroo TM Connect Portal cannot be used to make any changes on the pump and is a view only accessory Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 3

4 BASIC TERMINOLOGY Attainment Report A report that shows you if a patient is achieving their nutritional goals based on their prescription. Assignment The term used to assign a pump to a patient. This is also where patient demographics and prescription information is documented. The 4 step Assignment must be complete to obtain an Attainment Report. Devices A list of all the enteral pump serial numbers available in your view. Feeding History A historical view of what has been fed to the patient in ml over a defined period of time; this information can be viewed in a graph or table format. Formulas A library of enteral formulas that can be applied to a patient prescription; formulas can be added or edited in the Formulas tab Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 4

5 USER ROLES The Kangaroo TM Connect Portal has several user roles that your Administrator can assign based on your access needs: Administrator Clinical Viewer Clinical Support Viewer Biomed Viewer Key employees designated to manage pumps and other users in the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal. Key medical professionals who primarily need access to the clinical features in the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal. Employees who are primarily involved in customer support for pump users. Employees who are primarily involved in inventory management and maintenance. Access to all features If certain options appear in this training but not in your Kangaroo TM Connect Portal, then your administrator has assigned you a Kangaroo TM Connect Portal user role limited to your responsibilities Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. Before you get started, your administrator will designate a user role for you in the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal based on your access needs. For example, a Kangaroo TM Connect Portal user who is a Dietitian may not need access to the same features that a Biomedical Engineer needs access to. In order to avoid confusion in the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal, the administrator may designate the Dietitian as a Clinical Viewer and the Biomedical Engineer as a Biomed Viewer to block out any unnecessary features for each role. 5

6 HOW TO LOG IN AND NAVIGATE This section will teach you how to log in and navigate the Kangaroo Connect Portal Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 6

7 LOG IN Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To access the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal, enter the username and password given to you, click the Sign in button, and accept the terms. You may change your password at any time. 7

8 INITIAL PAGE AFTER LOG IN Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. The home screen shows all the pumps in your access group. You can only see the pumps your company has purchased. The serial number is a unique identifier for each pump. To access a pump, click on the serial number. Note the patient information in the column to the right. This means that the pump is assigned to that patient and should be in operation. If there is no patient name in the right column, then that pump is not assigned to a patient. 8

9 SUPPORT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. In the upper right corner of the portal screen along the blue line, there is a helpful resource button titled Support. Let s review the Support button. If you need help with the portal, click this button. You will be redirected to the Kangaroo TM Connect product page where you will see a customer service number. When calling, be as specific as possible with your question so that your call can be directed appropriately. 9

For a phone number or form, you can click on the orange box that says contact us to speak with a representative. To access training resources, in-service videos, and user manuals on both the pump and the portal, click resources on the bottom left to scroll through your options. 10

11 GETTING STARTED Jonathan received his new wireless pump in his home and his medical home care provider set it up for him. You are ready to configure Jonathan s Kangaroo Connect pump in the system. This will allow you and your team to view his pump in operation and obtain accurate historical information. Let s get connected to Jonathan s pump! Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 11

12 HOW TO CREATE A PUMP ASSIGNMENT This section will teach you how to create a pump assignment. This assignment connects the pump serial number you selected to a patient. After selecting the pump serial number you will be creating an assignment for, and clicking the New Assignment button, you will need to follow 4 steps to complete the assignment Cardinal Health. You have already logged in and you know Jonathan is using Serial Number AS To find a serial number, you can use the search function by typing in the whole serial number or you can just type in the last 3 digits of the serial number and click on the Magnifying Glass icon. You can clear the search by clicking the X. 13

15 ASSIGNMENT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. Now that you have selected a pump, you will want to create an assignment. To do this, you can click on the blue Create New Assignment button, or you can click on the Assignment tab on the top right. Once you select Create New Assignment, you are ready to enter Patient information. 15

16 ASSIGNMENT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. On Step 1 of 4: Enter Assignment Details, input a patient ID, First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth. 16

17 ASSIGNMENT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. On Step 2 of 4: Enter the Patient Demographic information. The required fields are denoted by an asterisk and include Gender, Height, and Weight. Enter any additional information and click next at the bottom. 17

18 ASSIGNMENT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. On Step 3 of 4: Enter the Prescription which includes the Start date, type of formula, and daily dose. The Start Date for the prescription defaults to Now. The Manual option may be selected when needed to add a patient's prescription to the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal retroactively. Select the Formula pack from the drop down list and click the confirmation button. The details of the formula will pop up so you can confirm the information is correct. If you do not see the formula, you will need to add it we will review how to do that later. For the daily dose, enter the total amount of formula to be infused in a 24 hour period. This may require a separate calculation. For example, Jonathan s Prescription may say, Osmolite 1.2 at 40mL/hour. This means that Jonathan should receive 40mL every hour for 24 hours. You will need to calculate 40 x 24 to get the daily dose which is 960mL. You should input 960mL into the Daily Dose field. Then click the confirmation button and click Next. 18

19 ASSIGNMENT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. On Step 4 of 4: You will confirm the overall Assignment. Review the information for Jonathan and make sure that you have entered the proper details. Once confirmed, click Save Assignment at the bottom. You will see a confirmation box pop up indicating the pump has been assigned. You are brought to the Assignment tab where you can view this information. You will also see a green bar at the top of the page indicating this pump is assigned to a patient. 19

20 HOW TO CREATE FORMULAS This section will teach you how to create and manage formulas. A formula is defined as Enteral Nutrition that is prescribed to a patient. An example of a formula is Osmolite Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 20

21 CREATE FORMULA Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To view, add, modify, or delete Formulas, click on Formulas tab on the top right of the Home screen. 21

It is a list of all of the formulas that have been added into the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal by your company. To view or edit, click on the name of the formula. This tutorial will use Osmolite 1.2 formula to demonstrate. 22

23 CREATE FORMULA Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To edit a formula, click on Revise Existing Formula and edit the information. When you are finished click OK. This will not change any formulas that have already been prescribed to a patient. Only patient assignments made after the revision will use this updated formula. This is to ensure prior assignments are not modified. In this view, you may also remove a formula completely by clicking, Remove Formula. 23

25 CREATE FORMULA Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To create a new formula, enter all the required information and click Save. A popup will appear asking you to confirm the details. Confirm the details are correct by clicking Add Formula. Once you have added or modified a formula, go back to the patient assignment and update the prescription. A formula will not automatically get updated in the patient assignment so you must go back to the prescription and change it. We will show you that process now. 25

26 CREATE FORMULA Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To update the prescription, click the Devices button in the top right. Search for and select the pump serial number. This will take you to the home screen. Then, click on Change Prescription. 26

27 CREATE FORMULA Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. Your new formula will now be available in the Formula Pack drop down menu. Select the new formula pack and confirm the formula information. You may also edit the Daily Dose. When ready, confirm the Daily Dose. Once confirmed, click Save. Remember, once you modify or add a new formula, you must change the prescription to assign that formula to a patient. 27

28 HOW TO GENERATE AN ATTAINMENT REPORT The section will show you how to generate an Attainment Report. Because an Attainment Report shows you if a patient is achieving their nutritional goals based off their prescription, you must complete the demographic entry to obtain this report Cardinal Health. 29 ATTAINMENT REPORT FOR JONATHAN Jonathan s Prescription is for 960mLs per day, but he only averages 600mL per day over the course of a couple days. His Care Team should know he did not achieve the prescribed amount. This information can be viewed on the Attainment Report Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. 29

32 ATTAINMENT REPORT Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. To generate the report, select a date range that you would like to view. The attainment report feature can report up to three prescription changes during the selected date range. If the selected date range covers more than three prescriptions, then you must reduce your date range to cover three or fewer prescriptions. Once you have the correct dates, click, Generate Report 32

If you receive an orange bar with an error message, read the message and revise the inquiry. When you are ready to view the report, click Ok. 33

This attainment report will show you the demographic information for the patient and a delivery history summary compared to the prescription. To view this report in a CSV file, click Export. To view this report in a PDF, Click Download PDF. 34

This is a view of the bottom of the downloaded Attainment Report showing the amount the patient received versus the amount prescribed. You can see it provides a percentage of attainment, in this case, 62.5%. Save or close the report to go back to the Kangaroo TM Connect Portal. 35

38 FEED HISTORY Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. You may select the date range for the desired report by clicking on the calendar icon. Select the start and end dates. You may select Show Table or Show Graph. Show Table will display the information in a chart which then may be exported to a CSV file. Show Graph will display the information on a graph. This tutorial will show a graph to demonstrate. 38

39 FEED HISTORY Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. You are now viewing the patient s feed history for a period of time by amount fed per hour. The blue line corresponds to the blue description, Fed Per Hour (ml) above the graph. This is the default. To zoom in on any graph, click, hold, and highlight the area that you would like to see on the graph. To zoom back out, double click on the graph. If you would like to save information, click on the Export button on the top right to view and save in a CSV file. 39

41 PUMP CERTIFICATIONS Cardinal Health. All Rights Reserved. The certification status of a pump is shown on the bottom right of the pump s home screen. You will see the date of last certification, the result of the certification, and the option to download a full certification report detailing the certification. If it is time to certify the pump again, you may do so remotely via clicking the Certify Now button. The pump must be powered on and in operation for the certification to work. 41

42 Summary After completing this training, you can now assign a pump to a patient, generate an attainment report, view feeding history, create and update formulas in the formula library, and perform biomed tasks remotely.
