2 1. Who are we? Hosting organisation XERACION VALENCIA (xeracion.org, Xeracion) is a youth cultural non-profit association with offices in Narón (Galicia) and Gandia (Valencia) with the main aim of empowering youth to develop themselves and their critical thinking in order to become active citizens who will improve our society. We follow and practice values of tolerance, human dignity, inter-culturalism, cooperation, social justice and integration. As well as practicing and promoting a sustainable development, healthy life styles and an active protection of the environment. We organise Youth Exchanges, Training Courses, workcamps and host/send/coordinate European EVS volunteer from different countries in environmental, social, entrepreneurial and educational projects. 2. Summary of the project & objectives The most educated youth in the history of the EU, faces an uncertain future due to the crisis of the last decade of political, labor and environmental instability. This situation leads to discouragement, distrust of institutions and lack of entrepreneurship, limiting the personal and professional development of young people. This harsh reality weakens the foundational values of the EU, such as work, housing and social rights. On the other hand, one of the most important challenges facing the EU is climate change, and we think that the best way to face it would be involving youth in sustainable entrepreneurship. In addition Spain is a large producer of cereals so it generates large amounts of agricultural waste that contribute to global warming. We observe emerging examples in EU countries such as Germany, Holland or France, leaders in bioconstruction, reuse agricultural waste raw materials to build houses with straw bales, invest more in human capital and reduce energy consumption (50 times less than conventional construction). That is why with this project we want to empower youth (with real examples) to create their own social entrepreneurship projects in the environmental field, without the need for a large economic investment, mitigating the work and housing problem. Therefore, the objectives of the project are to: 1. To boost the entrepreneurial spirit of young people through projects of bio-construction, transformation, upcycle of rural and urban waste, renewable energies and permaculture. 2. To empower the participants with the necessary training (theory, tools, techniques ) to start their own projects on bio-construction, renewable energies and other environmental entrepreneurship projects. 3. To provide them with competences on social entrepreneurship in order to develop their own ideas and projects. 4. To disseminate alternative sustainable housing and construction systems with negative carbon footprint and to promote a healthy lifestyle, responsible and conscious consumption.

3 5. To raise awareness among the participants about the real effects of our current consumption and life habits, creating a space for reflection and debate about sustainability. 6. To promote European programs such as Erasmus + giving a special focus to youth development and projects and initiatives. This youth exchange will take place from 18 th to 26 th of September at the Villa de Viver campsite ( and in a nearby land (less than 2 km) to the campsite, in the middle of nature between the Natural Parks of "Serra d'espadà" and "Serra Calderona. There will be a total of 25 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 with group leaders with no age limit Countries and partners involved in this YE are: BELGIUM: Urban Foxes (Brussels) ITALY: Green Rope (Triggiano) PORTUGAL: Experimentáculo (Setubal) SPAIN: Xeración València (Gandia) SPAIN: Xeración Galicia (Narón) 3. Profile of participants The ideal participants for this project are youth: - who loves being in touch with Nature, including camping in tents and sleeping/working outdoors; - who has experience or likes the topics of Permaculture and Bio-construction; - with a very open mind, flexible, adaptable to changes and ready to stay out of their comfort zone. 4. Accommodation and location This Youth Exchange will take place in a very rural location in the middle of nowhere so before please take this into consideration: - There are not shops around the place or anything else to do. - Accommodation will be in big common rooms to sleep by groups of 8 to 14 people in a camping site. - We will be cooking and cleaning for ourselves. - Most of the time we will be outdoors, working under the sun. - There will be limited and unstable internet and phone connection. - Every day we will have to walk 4 times (morning, lunch, afternoon, evening) around 20 minutes (each time) to go from the camping to the working location and back. What s this place? A few months ago some members of Xeración Valencia bought a piece of land (2.100 m2) in the middle of nowhere (Poco Pan county). Our plan is to build a bio-construction center where people can come and find out more about different types of bio-construction (with straw, pallets, reed/cane, sacks, wiki-houses or any other), sustainability and self-sufficiency. We just started building our little dream, so it will be a big pleasure to share our first steps with all of you and receive your help/feedback and support. In this map you can get an idea of where the place is located and the distance that we will have to walk every day

4 from the Camping in Viver to our piece of land in PocoPan (less than 2km ~ 20 minutes walk). Again, there is nothing else to do around, so be ready for that if you decide to come! xd Please bring your own sleeping bag, bed sheets, towels and personal toiletries! The temperature during the day is expected to be warm with temperatures from 15 ºC to 30 ºC but might be a bit chilly at night. You can also expect humidity, lots of sun and some rains, so for those who are sun sensitive or not so used to it, please bring high factor sun cream! 5. Travelling details and insurance 100% of the travel costs will be reimbursed (up to one month after the end of the youth exchange and after we received all the required documents) up to the maximum amount indicated by the distance calculator provided by the EU as it follows: Italy, Portugal and Belgium Spain (Galicia) Spain (Valencia) km > 275 EUR 180 EUR 0 EUR In order to get your reimbursements you must keep and send us: - TICKETS (on paper for trains/buses or confirmation with the price on it for flights) - INVOICE (if the company gives you one) - BOARDING PASS (for both ways) EXTRA-DAYS/FREE DAYS: There will not be any free day for sightseeing, therefore if you want to visit Valencia or any other place, we recommend you to arrive earlier and/or leave later. Following the guidelines of the E+ program the travel must be within a maximum of 2-3 days before and/or after the project (arrivals not before the 15th & departures not after the 29th). In order to make sure that all participants book the most ecological and efficient option available for their travel,

5 we offer our full support helping with flights and bus/train connections so please let us know if you need any help. You can book flights to any of the following airports: 1. Valencia 2. Barcelona INSURANCE: Please remember to bring your European Health Insurance Card, or your private insurance details if you have one. 6. PROGRAM We want to adapt our program (as much as we can) to your needs and interests, therefore we don t have a closed schedule for the week but just a structure that we will follow every day. We will give you the program at the beginning of the project after we know more about you. This will be more or less our daily schedule: 9:00 BREAKFAST (1 hour) 10:00 First morning session (1 hour 30 minutes approx.) Coffee and fruits break (20ish minutes) 12:00 Second morning session (1 hour 30 minutes approx.) 13.30h LUNCH + BREAK (2 hours 30 minutes) First afternoon session (1 hour 30 minutes approx.) Coffee & fruits break (20ish minutes) 18:00 Second afternoon session (1 hour 30 minutes approx.) 19:30 - REFLECTION TIME (30 minutes) 20:00 - DINNER + FREE/ORGANISED TIME The activities will consist of workshops that introduce the participants to the environment, permaculture, bioconstruction, ecological agriculture and appropriate technologies. The draft schedule of the week will be: Day 1. Ice-breakers / team buildings; Theoretical introduction to bio-construction; Documentary night. Day 2. Bio-construction practices; theory of construction of platform and theoretical beginning of Permaculture. Day 3. Practices of construction of the platform; Introduction to restoration and reuse; Practical permaculture Day 4. Starting construction, theory and practice; restoration and reuse practices 1; Practical permaculture 2. Day 5. Construction process; renewable energy theory; Erasmus + and Young entrepreneurs. Day 6. Construction process; practice renewable energies 1; restoration and reuse practices 2. Day 7. Renewable energy practice 2; Youthpass, next steps, ideas, suggestions, brainstorming, During the 7 days in Viver we will learn by example how to make a small eco-construction from the very beginning, and we will try to get it as advanced as possible in order to have it ready by the 26 th! It s a big challenge, we know, but there will be a lot of hands! Are you in? :D Therefore our time in Viver will be more practical tasks, some of them hard-work, some others more light, so

6 people will be able to choose depending on their interests/motivation and knowledge. 7. MEETING POINT Our accommodation in Viver is not very well connected and quite in the middle of nowhere, so MEETING POINT will be in BENIMACLET METRO/TRAM STATION on the 18 th of June at 17:00h (more details coming later) So please book your flights in order to be on time in Valencia! Thank you! 8. What to bring? - SLEEPING BAG (Please let us know if you don t have one so we can try to find one for you). Weather should be warm and sunny (temp between 15 and 25ºC) just something to cover yourself at night. - Bed sheet. - TOWEL and TOILETRIES. - Good and comfortable shoes (ideally hiking boots). - Sun cream and a cap/hat (especially if you are sensitive to the sun). - Your own bottle of water to refill (metal, glass or hard plastic) - A lot of good energy, positive attitude and - Better backpack than suitcase. 9.
