1 CLASS P2 CURRICULUM INPUTS JULY-AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2017 English Understands the concept of gender Understands and remembers the rules of one-many, such as adding -s, adding -es adding -ies. For example shop- shops box- boxes story- stories Understands the concept of Pronouns Understands the concept and usage of describing words. Identifies the describing words in the given sentences/ passages. Writes the describing words for the given nouns. Understands the usage of he, she, it, her, his, him etc. Learns the usage of a, an and the in sentences. Writes few sentences on any given topic. Listens to stories and recites short poems and songs with understanding. Reads simple story books and presents them orally in class. Reads the comprehension passages and answers the given questions. Math Numbers up to 500 with all the concepts. Solves problem sums on simple addition and subtraction. Uses the concept of place value in comparison of numbers. Recognizes numbers as even and odd and can classify them accordingly. Addition with carry over. -Applies the concept of place value to solve the sums on addition with carry over. -Seeks answers for sums on addition with carry over under the given format of H T O.

CLAY JULY Composition during holidays you must have seen something which you think can be made with clay. Solid shapes create something with the help of any three to five solid shapes of your choice. Relief make a slab and create something on top of that. Pottery coil method make a container with the help of coil method.
8 AUGUST Pottery slab method make a container with the help of slab method with slices. Animal figure make a simplified animal of your choice to keep in mind shapes as explained earlier which you have seen. Bird figure make a simplified bird of your choice to keep in mind shapes as explained earlier which you have seen. Small creatures going to explain children how to make a creature with the help of shapes. SEPTEMBER Small creatures as explained earlier to be practiced. Transport-make any vehicle of your choice to keep in mind shapes as going to explain. Miniature village make a village which you have seen to keep in mind shapes. Miniature town make a town with the help of shapes which you have seen. GRANDPARENT FORUM We are thankful to grandmother of Manikbir (P2-B) who agreed to spend some quality time with our children and enlightened them with her valuable experiences. She told a beautiful story of The frog and a princess. It was a very interactive session. The grandparent was also very thoughtful and tried to include expressions in her storytelling. She was very glad and answered all the questions put by the children patiently. She also shared the principles of living in harmony and sharing what we have through discussions and dohas by Kabir. It was a meaningful session with the grandparent. It was a good learning experience for our children. Students showed a lot of interest and enthusiasm during the session and they couldn t thank dadiji enough for coming and spending time with them. 9 ACTIVITIES FOR JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER 1. The child will be asked to do some experiments with the help of the parent and make a list of the food items that change when cooked. For example-how milk becomes curd, paneer etc. 2. Make a collage of the important places in your neighbourhood. Write the name of your colony at the top. Collect the pictures from old magazines and newspapers and stick them on a sheet or chart. Is there anything else you wish your neighbourhood to have? Put them in your collage. 3. Make a poster of a tree and write interesting slogans on it. For example- trees are our green friends. 4. Ask a student to randomly think of any adjective. The next person has to think of an adjective with the last alphabet of the previous adjective. Keep going till everyone gets a chance. 5. Once the students know how to describe a person, this activity can be taken up. Each student is asked to choose a friend that he/she wants to describe. They can be guided to describe the physical characteristics (looks) first, for example, She is tall, She is thin, etc. and then the nature of the person, for example, She is kind, She is friendly etc. 6. Ask students to make an adjective dictionary in which each alphabet will have a respective adjective word. 7. Book cricket: Players- two The child will open the book at random and read the page number given on the left hand sheet of the book. The digit at ones place will be the score of the child. Child will open the book randomly 6 times and then add the total score. The child who scores the maximum will be the winner. 8. Three digit number Material required: two set of three dice each. Players: Three players -A, B and C Procedure: Two set of dice are allotted to player A and the player B. Player A rolls his set of three dice Player C records the number formed by three dice. Player B rolls his set of three dice Player C records the number formed by three dice. Player c looks at the two numbers and finds which one is greater.
10 The player with greater number scores one point. The game can be repeated a number of times, say 5. The player who scores more points is declared as the winner. 9. Addition of numbers: ( with carryover) Material required: Two dice- one with digits 4, 5, 6 and the other with digit 7, 8, 9 Instruction: make your child roll the two dice. Note down the digits appear on the two dice. Form 2-digit numbers with digits appeared. Find the sum of the two numbers formed.
