1 Arlington Science Focus PTA and Baroody Camps Presents: WINTER 2018 After-School Enrichment Programs Welcome all Science Focus students to our fun enrichment session at Arlington Science Focus School! This Fall, the PTA has partnered with Baroody Camps, Inc. ( to provide a limited selection of school enrichment classes for students across all grade levels. In Northern Virginia, Baroody Camps has been providing summer camps since 2003 and after-school enrichment classes since Baroody Cmaps, Inc. will coordinate and administer all classes in partnership with the ASFS PTA. They will also provide a dedicated on-site Enrichment Coordinator, who will oversee all enrichment activities. This will provide the much-needed oversight to our otherwise well-rounded enrichment program. Please read the following pages of the catalog carefully for important dates, policies and procedures, & program descriptions. Additional copies of the registration catalog can be found at Please contact Beth Foreman (Baroody Camps) BaroodyCampsInfo@gmail.com with questions or concerns. Please note: Wednesday classes begin one week after all other programs. If you are late more than two times, your child will no longer be able to participate in the program. Please be aware that school personnel will not be available at this time to supervise your child. Parent Pick-Up: Parents/caregivers must pick up children promptly at their child s Enrichment program classroom location. This will be given to parents in the acceptance s. Changes to dismissal: Baroody Camps will provide each Arlington Science Focus teacher and each after-school programs Instructor with a list of children participating in the various after-school programs along with their dismissal instructions. You are responsible for notifying the Director of Operations (Beth Foreman) of any changes to your child s regular dismissal process from his/her after-school program. On-Site Programs Coordinator To help manage children participating in the before and after-school programs, Baroody Camps will provide an On-Site Programs Coordinator. S/he is responsible for distributing & collecting attendance sheets, assisting program staff with behavior issues, assisting with dismissal, resolving any issues that may arise and quality control during programs. Additionally, the On-Site Coordinator is Medication Administration Trained & CPR/First Aid Certified. Standards of Behavior We want to ensure that all students participating in the after-school enrichment programs enjoy the experience. In order for this to happen, it is expected that all students will conform to regular Arlington Science Focus classroom and school rules and regulations while attending a program. The providers are all experienced Instructors and will use accepted classroom management techniques to allow misbehaving children to adjust. If a child continues to have difficulties, he or she will be removed from the class and be placed with the On-Site Programs Coordinator who will decide if and when to return the child to class that day. The On-Site Programs Coordinator will also inform the parents about the situation. If a child is removed from a class a second time, that child will be withdrawn from that class for the remainder of the session. The School will be informed of this decision. No partial refunds will be given in these situations. We look to all parents to support our class providers so that all children can enjoy the after-school classes. Snacks/Allergies Snacks will NOT be provided by instructors. Snacks will be permitted at the start of programs each day ONLY. Parents who would like their child to have a snack before programs are REQUIRED to provide a NUT-FREE snack. Program providers will be given an allergy list of students participating in their class. Snacks will be monitored by the On-Site Coordinator and the Program Instructors in their classrooms with serious allergy students monitored. If your child has a medical condition and/or allergy, serious or not, a Medical Condition/Allergy Waiver must be completed before the start of programs. *Note: After-School Enrichment Programs do not have access to the health office, however, our On-Site Coordinators are trained to store and administer medication safely.
