FACT SHEET CA Productivity Accelerator New Features of CA PA 13.0 The latest version of CA Productivity Accelerator (CA PA) delivers a wealth of exciting new features, ensuring that the learner is at the forefront of your future content design and development. This fact sheet summarizes these new features and explains the benefits that this latest release offers existing CA PA clients KEY DIFFERENCES The latest release of CA PA brings many new features, offering tangible benefits over earlier versions, including: Unrestricted License no longer just for CA applications Not Just System Training capture system and non-system processes Translation automatically recapture screens in up to 45 local languages ebook create learner specific content, from any source Extended Performance Support Desktop Assistant, Concurrent, Guided Tour and Context Help Integrated Light LMS encompassing Quizzes and Learning Reporter Mobile Users Publish Content for consumption by mobile users Introducing CA PA 13.0 We are very proud to announce the release of our latest version of CA PA. CA PA 13.0 comprises a new user interface, and development and deployment engines. The reengineered toolset will support users of any technology, with enhanced learning and support via functionality that reflects current learning and support trends. Key Differences CA PA is no longer just for capturing system processes within CA applications. With an unrestricted license, you can now capture any application using CA PA, so it can be utilized for all of your system-based training across the organization - saving you the cost of purchasing and maintaining multiple tools. Aside from extending the value of CA PA across your system-based training, you can now also utilize the tool set for non-system processes, extending its value even further. It can be used for non-system courses such as on-boarding, health and safety, and compliance training providing learners with access to all of your learning content from one source. When you have captured your course in one language, CA PA still offers the translation capabilities it has always done, with the ability to translate in up to 45 languages (as opposed to 24 in CA PA 12). However, in addition to translating the template text, in CA PA 13.0 the screens can be automatically recaptured, with limited manual intervention, in the local language. New ebook Feature There have been some key changes in learning over recent years. Learners are no longer willing to sit through hours of flat or cross-functional elearning content - particularly if if it isn t relevant to them. The new ebook feature in CA PA 13.0 enables you to create job-role related content, specific to the preferred learning style of the learner, from any source. ebooks have really opened up the possibilities within the CA PA user interface. They can contain a personalized combination of system-based simulations as well as non-system based content, media, animations, etc. With the ebook s intuitive navigation, which allows the learner to choose their own route through the content, learning becomes a personal process with the learner being in control. ebooks use pre-created templates and offer the flexibility to personalize or create your own. These can be added to the Library and made available across the organization
KEY FEATURES CA PA 13.0 still offers the same features as previous versions, but the features terminology has changed. CA PA 13.0 Manager Demonstration Practice Test Previously Development Library / Knowledge Center See It Try It Know It Features Terminology CA PA 13.0 still offers many of the features that existing developers and learners know and love, with some great enhancements. The terminology has changed but we can still deliver the same functionality even better. Here is an overview of the main features of CA PA 13.0, together with the comparative features from previous versions. The Manager The Manager in CA PA 13.0 is effectively a combination of the CA PA 12 Development Library and Knowledge Centre. It is a central repository and a Light Learning Management System (LMS), providing a single source for all content. There are two key interfaces the Developer and the User. In CA PA 12, the Library was used for developing content. When the content was ready for deployment, it was published to the Knowledge Centre, an LMS or LCMS. This is no longer the process in CA PA Now when your content is ready to deploy, you simply place the content into the Courses area of the Manager and it is immediately available to your learners publishing is no longer an additional effort. Your learners then access this content in an area of the Manager known as the Library - they can only see the courses assigned to them. The Manager can be re-skinned to reflect your organization s branding. Demonstration previously See It Much the same as the old See It, Demonstration provides a pure demo simulation with explanation bubbles. From the learner s perspective, apart from the newer interface, the changes are limited, with a similar navigation and viewing experience. There is a player bar and a progress bar, as with See It mode, but now there is also the option to share the content - because it s all web-based (as long as they also have access to the Manager, learners can share links to this area of the learning). Practice previously Try It The Practice offers hands-on in a simulated environment, so that the learner can effectively interact with the system. If the learner selects an area incorrectly, there is the option to provide customized, enhanced mediation. As in previous versions, learners are still provided with explanation bubbles, and they have to complete the action to move on. In the same way, if they get something wrong, there is a prompt within the content to keep them on the right track. Test previously Know It Test offers the opportunity for learners to test their knowledge. A slight difference to the previous Know It in that there are two ways to give learners a task either via a task window, which explains the task, or via a link to a new window with the information. As the learner completes the tasks within the process, they receive confirmation or remediation. An additional benefit in CA PA 13.0 is that you can assign points to tasks so learners don t necessarily lose all points the first time they get a task wrong.
DOCUMENTATION CA PA 13.0 offers most the same documentation as previous versions, but the terminology has changed. CA PA 13.0 Training Document Job Help - with or without screens Business Process Document Previously Training Manual Job Aid System Process Document Documentation Almost all of the same documentation is available in CA PA 13.0, but again the terminology has changed slightly. Training Document previously Training Manual This document is very similar to what we had before, utilizing pre-created, editable Word templates that can be saved as PDF and HTML files. Job Help previously Job Aid This is also much the same as the old Job Aid but your outputs can now include screen shots or be produced without the screens included. Business Process Document previously System Process Document This template includes multiple fields; what to do, what you see and what you say. These features lend themselves well to using this document as an Instructor Guide, which was available in previous versions of CA PA and utilized for classroom instructor scripts, etc. PERFORMANCE SUPPORT The Desktop Assistant offers three modes of Performance Support: 1. Concurrent Function User works through the process in live application with Concurrent in separate window 2. Context Help Identifiers in the live application highlight configuration changes 3. Guided Tour Provides a tour of the process by highlighting action areas in the live application Performance Support Desktop Assistant The Desktop Assistant is a delivery mechanism for context sensitive support, which can be recorded against any application. There is a requirement to install a small application on each user s desktop in order to access the Desktop Assistant. This is a major step forward for CA PA as, in earlier versions, context sensitive support was only available for limited CA applications. A light bulb icon sits at the right side of the user s screen. When they open an application that contains performance support content, the light bulb comes on to alert them to available content they can click the light bulb to see links to this content. There are three Performance Support options available within the Desktop Assistant: 1. Concurrent this allows the user to move through the process, just as Do It did in earlier versions of CA PA. A simulation provides guidance in a separate window. 2. Context Help this is a completely new function for CA PA users, whereby identifiers (yellow post-it style notes) can be added to the application at a field level (not floating over the application) to flag changes or updates. This feature is very powerful when you wish to highlight configuration changes to users within an application that is familiar to them. These definitions actually sit within the live application and are used to explain the changes. 3. Guided Tour this is also a new function whereby the best practice process is communicated via sequential action areas. If a user is unsure of a particular process, they can be guided at their desk while working on the live system. Guided Tour is integrated into the application itself and all of the learning dialogue is shown on screen within the live application, highlighting the action areas, taking the user through the process step-by-step as they work through each process. All of these features are even more powerful because the new CAPA 13.0 is available for any application.
Assessments and Reporting Quizzes There are ten quizzes available in CA PA 13.0, including Multiple Choice, Fill in the Fields, Fill in the Blanks, Matching, Connection, Sorting, Slide Control, Grid and Puzzle. Quizzes can be deployed as a Knowledge Check within the simulation, but these are not tracked. Quizzes that need to be tracked via the Learning Reporter are known as assignments in the course to which they relate. Typically a learner completes the learning and then takes the quiz. In addition, quizzes can be structured for learners to undertake prior to commencement of the learning, much like you could with pre-assessments in CAPA 12. Learning Reporter Reports are accessed within the Manager. There are six available reports out of the box, with the ability to add customized reports as required. Learners can report on their own progress. Reporter profiles can be assigned to Managers (permissions can be set up so users can only view reports when they log-in to the Manager). Reports can be selected by Name, Lesson Types (simulation mode, quiz, etc), Assignment, Time Period, User identity. Reports can be exported into Excel or CSV files for further interrogation. Content Creation Rather than the Recorder Application that was available with previous versions, CA PA 13.0 offers the Developer and Instant Developer. Instant Developer The Instant Developer provides SMEs or business process owners with a simple and fast way to record a process. The content recorded using the Instant Developer can be enhanced with the addition of audio and/or text. Text can be utilized by the CA PA Author to assist in the refinement of the content, or by the learner as additional contextual type information. The recordings captured using the Instant Developer do not have to be saved within the Manager. These recordings could be saved locally or on a shared drive, and then sent to the CA PA Author to integrate into the Manager and refine. Alternatively, the Instant Developer content can be immediately made available to learners. Recordings can easily be published in a document or mp4 format.
Developer The CA PA 13.0 Developer aligns to previous versions in that it contains similar functionality. However, it offers a great deal more by providing visual design options to create multi-dimensional components which accommodate the latest learning trends. A learner s preferred learning style is recognised and incorporated. The functions of the CA PA 13.0 Developer utilize an enhanced version of web page creation. Assets such as animation and media, previously only available via third party tools, can be easily integrated into CA PA 13.0 courses.
