3 Chapter Activities 1. Making dumplings So as to enrich the lifetime of the society, as well as enhance the cohesion and communication in our members, SPIE Student Club of Sichuan University has launched a party with members make dumplings. This activity was held in January 4 th, With the all round preparation and the enthusiastic participation of all the members, plenty of plates of dumplings, steaming under our ardent anticipation, were placed on the table. Concerning this activity, not only were the cooperation and emotions strengthened, but we also felt the joys by our own in the cooking process. 2. Basketball game On March, 24 th, 2012, a basketball game opened, held by SPIE Student Club of Sichuan University and OSA Club. The game have heightened the cognition of exercise, the interest in sports, the mutual exchange, harmonic ability and working in a group as well. It also did good to cultivate excellent virtue.

Academic lecture of Prof. David David Andrews is professor of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia, where he leads a theory group conducting wide ranging research on fundamental photonics, molecular fluorescence and energy transport, nonlinear optics and optomechanical forces. Addition to important points about optics and chemistry, Prof. David gave us some vital tips about how to publish your papers SPIE Asia Student Conference Our SPIE Student Club of Sichuan University was cooperated with other 6 chapters in Singapore, India, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and China to organize an international student conference during July, 2012 (Wednesday Friday) in Singapore. The event is a collaborative student conference organized by SPIE Singapore student chapter and sponsored by SPIE and OPSS. Around 5 SPIE visiting lecturers have been invited to Singapore to give lectures. College students from several countries in Asia came to Singapore to attend it. Of course, local students in Singapore participated as well. We would like to appreciate all the excellent presentations during this 3 day student conference. We enjoyed this student conference and already had a nice time in this small and beautiful island, Singapore.
5 SPIE Optics and Photonics SPIE Optics and Photonics, the largest interdisciplinary technical conference in North America focused on research and technologies in solar, optics, photonics, and space optics, draw more than 4,300 attendees to hear 2,80000 technical presentations and tour a 200 company exhibition. Dates are August in the San Diego, California, Convention Center. Min Zhong in the chapter of SPIE Sichuan University Student Club has been there to attend this conference. She has given a report with the title Analyzing of fringe patterns polluted by noise and nonlinearity using S Transform.

Communication Three reports have been respectively given by Min Zhong, Rong Ye and Bing Zeng on October, 26 th, Furthermore, they shared the stuff during the conferences in Singapore and the U.S., which impressed the members and fueled the curiosity of member to get deep into the science research. Planned Activities in the future 1. Holding a laser game competition. 2. Organizing the Asia Student Photonics Conference 2013 by cooperating with 14 chapters in Japan, Singapore, India, Malaysia and China. 3. Visiting local famous optical research centers and companies. 4. Visiting companies in the field of optics and photonics. 5. Inviting professors in the filed of optics and photonics to deliver talks. 6. Giving lectures to underclassman. 7. Participating the optics conferences. 8. Communicating and exchanging ideas with OSA Students Chapter regularly. Financial Information (All quantities are given in RMB) During March 2012 the Chapter received the fifth transference of funds from SPIE. Including the balance last year, we totally have RMB (Renminbi),
