Courses start the week of December 10 th through the week of March 4 th. 3. No class when school is closed. Class make-up, week of March 11 th. 4. Registration fee: $100 per course, unless otherwise stated in description. 5. November 26 th Registration Deadline Date. Each course needs a minimum of ten registrants to run, unless minimum is # otherwise stated. 6. No Refunds after November 26 th. 7. Class sizes are limited based on teacher request. Early registration is recommended. AM Enrichment Class Offerings: 8:00AM to 9:00AM Monday Title: Stop Motion Video Teacher: Leslie Dalis-Watnik Grade(s): 4 th 5 th Day: Monday Description: Students will learn about Stop-Motion video, programs that create this type of footage, and then will create their own video. Tuesday Title: Chess: Lakeville Knights Teacher: Dale Gindi Grade(s): 3 rd 5 th Day: Tuesday Reg. Max: 24 Description: This program will provide students with an opportunity to learn and play chess. It is appropriate for players of all skill levels. Those players new to chess will receive instruction and those familiar with the game will have opportunity to hone their skills while playing games with other students. We will use traditional chess boards as well as technology to learn and play chess.

Title: Keyboarding for Kids Teacher: Romy Sambursky Grade(s): 3 rd Day: Tuesday Description: Keyboarding is a crucial skill for using computers as an integrated learning tool. In this course, students will learn proper keyboarding techniques, using the home row as a starting point, and then moving on to learning the positions of all the other keys. Wednesday Title: American Sign Language Teacher: Betsy Casser Grade(s): 2 nd 5 th Day: Wednesday Description: Learn the basics of American Sign Language plus some new, fun, ASL games. Students will learn to finger spell the alphabet and numbers. They will learn the first 100 words for family members, foods, colors, clothes etc. Children will be able to ask questions and make their thoughts and wants known.

4 Wednesday (Continued) Title: Public Speaking Teacher: Janice Plitnick Grade(s): 4 th 5 th Day: Wednesday Description: The class will focus on enhancing the ability of students to speak before a group with clarity and confidence. Voice projection and stress reduction techniques will also be included. Thursday Title: Challenge Math Teacher: Thomas Hughes/Leslie Dalis-Watnik Grade(s): 4 th Day: Thursday Reg. Max: 15 (per instructor) Description: Learning how to solve a problem and to understand its underlying mathematical concepts are the most important goals of mathematics education. Students will be provided with opportunities to engage in creative problem solving activities while developing the ability to reason, to be logical, and to be resourceful. Throughout the course, children will: develop enthusiasm for problem solving and mathematics deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and strengthen ability to use these concepts build a stronger foundation for assessments for future mathematics studies Title: Gear-Up for the 3 rd Grade SAM Test Teacher: Lisa Keegan Grade(s): 3 rd Day: Thursday Description: In this course, students will learn to implement test-taking strategies in preparation for the New York State Assessment in Math. Along with testing tips, we will review all of the major topics covered by the exam. Students will practice answering both multiple choice and short answer responses that correspond to the different units of study in third grade.

Debating can help students grasp essential critical thinking and presentation skills while strengthening their analytical and abstract thinking skills. Students will develop a sense of leadership and confidence in sharing their opinions and exercise their ability to actively listen, question, clarify, and organize their ideas. *Not recommended for students who have already taken this course.* Title: Social Issues Enrichment Teacher: Stephanie Bailyn Grade(s): 4 th - 5 th Day: Friday Description: It's hard to turn on the TV these days or look at the paper and not see conflict all around us. This information is difficult for adults to process, let alone children. Through the use of books, articles, and videos, this group will focus on social issues that affect the lives of students and others around them. During our discussions of acceptance, students will come together with the goal of learning about themselves and others in order to make their school environment, and the world, a better place. Various social topics will be discussed such as racial equality, family diversity and gender roles.

Repeated instances of lateness may result in the removal from the PM Enrichment program. Tuesday (PM) Spanish (PM) Teacher: Jocelyn Ayende Grade(s): 4 th 5 th Day: Tuesday Room: # 220 Reg. Max. 16 Description: Hola! (Hello) This course will introduce students to the Spanish language. Topics will include greetings, vocabulary and phrases. The instruction will be done through songs, literature, and active participation. Students will be encouraged to attend all classes as they are responsible for completing coursework assignments. Active involvement will be encouraged in all lessons.

A $10.00 processing fee will be deducted from any refund requested prior to the registration deadline. NO REFUNDS after the program registration deadline. 4. In the event of program cancellation due to low enrollment a full refund will be issued. 5. If the district closes operations due to inclement weather or any other reason, enrichment programs will be cancelled for that day. All reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule cancelled programs. 6. Parents are responsible for transportation. 7.
