COLLABORATING IN A SMALL PROJECT GROUP ON A REAL-LIFE ENGINEERING PROBLEM IS CLEARLY AN EXCELLENT PREPARATION FOR PRACTICE. THE LEARNER AT THE CENTRE IS A CENTRAL THEME SHARED BY ACTIVE LEARNING IN ENGINEERING (ALE), PROJECT ORGANISED LEARNING (POL) AND PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING (PBL). BRINGING TOGETHER THESE THREE MAJOR INNOVATIVE APPROACHES IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION IN ONE CONFERENCE PRESENTS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR CROSS FERTILIZATION AND NETWORKING AMONG ENGINEERING EDUCATORS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. 3 13 TH ACTIVE LEARNING IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION WORKSHOP (ALE) ACTIVE LEARNING IS RECOGNISED AS A KEY ELEMENT TO ENHANCE THE RELATIONSHIP WITH ENGINEERING PRACTICE. ACTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES PREPARE ENGINEERING STUDENTS FOR A CAREER OF CREATIVE THINKING AND INDEPENDENT DECISION-MAKING. THE PRACTICE OF ACTIVE LEARNING IN ENGINEERING IS VERY DIVERSE. MANY DIFFERENT SCHOOLS HAVE DEVELOPED THEIR OWN APPROACH WITH DIFFERENT IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE. IN ORDER TO SORT OUT THIS CONFUSION THE ALE 2015 WORKSHOP WILL FOCUS ON: THE MEANING OF ACTIVE LEARNING AN INTERACTIVE KEYNOTE WILL EXPLORE THIS THEME AT THE CONFERENCE. TWO FACILITATORS RUN EACH SESSION. YOU ARE INVITED TO SUBMIT YOUR CONTRIBUTION WITHIN THE THEMATIC TOPICS. PAPERS CAN BE PROPOSED IN TWO FORMATS: THE SHORT PAPER FORMAT (NOT MORE THAN 4 PAGES) AND THE EXTENDED FORMAT (BETWEEN 8 AND 12). 5. ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED AND PRESENTED IN ENGLISH. 6.
