3 Lone Star College-Tomball Annual Cycle of Effectiveness () Overview Lone Star College-Tomball supports the Lone Star College Strategic Plan through five related college strategies that influence our Annual Cycle of Effectiveness priorities and initiatives. The chart below shows how the Lone Star College System s five strategic goals are aligned with our college strategies and priorities and initiatives. Empower students to succeed in college and in life through the Global Grit Experience and Tomball 2020 strategies. Sustain financial wellness through transparent planning and collaborative decision-making while expanding resources to support teaching and learning. Create and sustain a compelling and empowering college culture for employees and students. Expand and deepen strategic partnerships to collectively impact student, college and community success. LSC-Tomball Priorities Provide professional development, financial resources and administrative support so all instructional programs become the best they can be for the benefit of students. Meaningful Faculty Development Provide exemplary teaching and service by taking personal ownership for the student experience. Generate grant funding in support of student achievement. Nurture a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion for employees and students. Rally partners around each LSC-T location to enhance the student experience and increase community support Campus Initiatives Creating a Culture of We Grants Council (GC) 2.0 Quantify the Culture Community Engagement Initiative CAMPUS INITIATIVES EXPLAINED IN DETAIL Meaningful faculty development The instructional deans will conduct annual professional development needs assessments and work with COTE and our IIF initiative to provide intentional custom training to meet those needs. Creating a culture of We We want our students to feel nurtured and supported by the entire campus community, knowing we are all fully engaged in their success. Grants Council 2.0 To review and enhance the function of the Lone Star College-Tomball Grants Council. Quantify the Culture To access and quantify information about institutional cultures and practices related to diversity and inclusion. Community Engagement Initiative To convene leaders and friends of LSC-Tomball for the purpose of gathering their input, raising awareness, and spreading the word about the great work happening at LSC- Tomball. 3

4 Lone Star College-Tomball Annual Cycle of Effectiveness () Overview Continued For the Annual Cycle of Effectiveness, we are asking departments to select and create unit objectives and action items for no more than two (2) of the Campus Initiatives (highlighted in tan on page 3). KEY TERMS: Annual Cycle of Effectiveness () Describes the annual goal setting process for Lone Star College. Campus Initiative(s) 5 initiatives we are collectively working to accomplish for Unit Objective Departmental goal(s) aligned with one of the Campus Initiatives. Action Items Steps we identify to help us accomplish our Unit Objective(s). TWO WAYS TO APPROACH THE UNIT OBJECTIVES AND YOU CREATE FOR : UNIT OBJECTIVE OPTION #1 Several individual unit objectives and action items that support the campus initiative. CAMPUS INITIATIVE Example: Create a Culture of We COTE INDIVIDUAL UNIT OBJECTIVE & STUDENT SUCCESS INDIVIDUAL UNIT OBJECTIVE & FIRST YEAR FOUNDATIONS INDIVIDUAL UNIT OBJECTIVE & AIP INDIVIDUAL UNIT OBJECTIVE & UNIT OBJECTIVE OPTION #2 Develop a shared unit objective that members of each department contribute action items towards accomplishing. CAMPUS INITIATIVE Example: Create a Culture of We SHARED UNIT OBJECTIVE between COTE, Student Success, First Year Foundations, & AIP COTE STUDENT SUCCESS FIRST YEAR FOUNDATIONS AIP SAMPLE TEMPLATES The five templates on the following pages serve as aids in the planning and completion of the online form in Compliance Assist. Each Lone Star College Strategic Goal has been aligned to our Campus Strategies, Priority, and Campus Initiative. We have also identified which Strategic Objectives are closely aligned with our work. 4

LSC Strategic Objectives for Student Success: Choose the most appropriate objective. 2.1 Goal-Setting, Evaluation and Data Use: Set objectives that will shape improvement efforts. Implement broad-based, ongoing evaluation processes and make data-driven decisions for the continuous improvement of teaching, learning, initiatives and services. 2.2 Academic and Career Pathways: Implement well-defined academic and career pathways to help students obtain their educational and career goals. 2.3 Curriculum and Instruction: Design and implement innovative, relevant, and collaborative curriculum and instruction to promote deep learning, student engagement and preparedness for future employment and further education. 2.4 Student Support: Provide student-focused support services to guarantee students benefit from the college s academic support, student services, college and community resources, financial literacy training, student life, and mentoring programs. 2.5 Advising: Provide comprehensive, personalized and proactive advising, using an intrusive case management model, to ensure students make seamless transitions from high schools to college, from first year experience to second year experience, and from completion to 4-year institutions or jobs. 2.6 Serving Diverse Student Populations: Provide equitable and expanded services to diverse student populations to bridge achievement gaps.
