6 Borrowing Pencils You may exchange your student ID badge for a pencil and your ID will be returned when the borrowed pencil is returned. Please do this before class begins and not during lectures.
7 Assignments/Homework Student Name Class Period Section, Problems Assigned Due Date
8 Make-Up Work You are responsible for making up absence work in a timely manner. This includes any tests and quizzes missed due to an excused absence. You will have 5 school days (1 week) to complete missing work from being absent. Please see me about picking up any missing assignments.
9 Late Work There are no excuses for not completing your assignments on time. All assignments are due by the due date and time. Any assignment that is late will have one letter grade subtracted. All late assignments shall be due by the unit test day.

11 The 10 Non-Negotiable BEs For Geometry Success 1. BE on time and in class every day. 2. BE dressing for success. 3. BE respectful give it, earn it. 4. BE prepared with your own work and materials. 5. BE participating as a team player. 6. BE meeting all course due dates. 7. BE electronics, makeup, food, drink, candy, and gum-free. 8. BE following all teacher directions. 9. BE following all class, school, and district rules. 10. BE expecting necessary changes.
12 Level s of Consequences Step 1: Private Conversation and/or Seat Change Along With Parent Contact Step 2: Mini Referral, Detention and Positive Behavior Plan With Parent Contact Step 3: Discipline Referral Automatic For Serious/Severe Offenses Note: Failure to show up for assigned detention is considered insubordination and will result in a discipline referral.
13 When Students First Arrive 1. Wait outside until a teacher is in the room. 2. Turn off and put away any electronics and makeup don t even think about answering your phone. 3. Walk quietly into the classroom. 4. Pick up any needed class materials and supplies from the teacher or a friend before sitting down. 5. Sit in your assigned seat and quietly complete your bellwork assignment.

15 Tardies If you are tardy to class without a pass within the first 5 minutes, you may be assigned 30 minutes detention and any student late after 5 minutes will be sent to the office for skipping. All unexcused tardies will result in parent(s) being contacted.
16 Bathroom/Water Emergencies Students are allowed five (5) passes each nine-week period for bathroom emergencies during non-teaching and nontesting times after the first 15 minutes and before the last 15 minutes of class. Please use your passes wisely. You must sign out and in on the bathroom log. As always please use the bathroom when going to and from class. Any unused bathroom passes can be traded in for 10 extra points toward your nine-week grade.
17 Test/Quiz-Taking Procedure When taking a test or quiz, your books and other materials must be put away and you must work quietly. Students must do their own work. You may look at the ceiling, the clock, or the teacher. All electronics must be off and put away. Until all tests and quizzes are handed in to me, you will be disallowed to talk or turn around in your seat. Failure to follow these procedures will result in 30 minutes assigned detention. Continuous unruly behavior during a testing period or any other time during class may result in being removed from class for the period. Note: Any violation of cheating will result in a grade of zero (0) for the assignment, a parent phone call/conference, and possible disciplinary referral and review.

19 Whiteboards Assigned team whiteboards are to be solely used for math problems done in class. Any team found to be using or allowing whiteboards and markers to be used for doodling/graffiti/vandalism will be assigned detention/school service for the entire team for insubordination.
20 Common Class Courtesies/Manners 1. Be quiet, paying attention, and listening, when you see the QUIET SIGN raised or posted and when somebody is speaking or the announcements are on. 2. Sharpen all pencils and get needed materials upon entering class and before doing bellwork. 3. Any makeup and electronics devices should be off and put away. 4. Raise your hand if you need to speak or quietly get out of your seat. 5. All trash and unwanted papers need to go in the trash can(s) in class.
21 When Students Leave At The End of Class 1. All class materials are properly put away. 2. Remain quiet and in your seat until the end of the class period. 3. Please keep all electronics off and put away. 4. Please be sure all trash if off the floor, tables, desks, and thrown away. 5. Walk quietly out of the classroom.
22 Specific Course Expectations 1. Expect at least two (2) quizzes/tests each week during the grading period. 2. As a rule, lone answers are not allowed. Please show all of your own work on your assignments. 3. Students whose grade is below a 70% - C will be assigned mandatory help until the grade is at least 70%. Failure to show up for mandatory help/tutoring will result in a parent phone call and/or conference and administrative review.
23 Specific Course Expectations 4. Students will have 5 school days or 1 week to make up work from an absence. 5. Make-ups for the semester final exam and a grade of INCOMPLETE will be given if the student has a WRITTEN EXCUSED ABSENCE brought to my attention the day of the final exam. 6. Please keep all handouts and assignments for the semester until you have received your final grade and agree with it. If papers are missing, the teacher s records will be considered correct.
24 Special Note To Students Please take this syllabus home and discuss it with your parents. Please return this signed syllabus plan for success to me by tomorrow (Friday August 17, 2012). This is your first homework assignment.
