Position Details Faculty/Professional Support Service School/Department Division/Section/Unit Job Title Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care Psychology Academic Programme Support Tutor Vacancy No 0739 Grade Grade 7 Hours of Work Contract Duration Reports To Responsible For 35 Hours per week Fixed Term 1 Year Head of Psychology N/A Principal Accountabilities You will: Contribute to the management of students progression and performance in the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care. Provide ongoing academic support to students on Psychology courses within the department's specialisms including learning materials and teaching, advice and guidance in order to facilitate their transition, learning, performance, progression and development of essential skills. ngage in research and scholarly activity to remain up to date with developments in the programme area and keep knowledge and understanding of current practices up to date so that students receive the best possible support, advice and guidance. Key Tasks Teaching & Learning Support

2 Develop and deliver learning resources and teaching materials,as directed by senior academic staff, to meet course frameworks and learning outcomes. Provide an introduction and ongoing support to students on academic study skills. Develop appropriate teaching and resources to enhance the study skills of students. Coordinate writing support groups in collaboration with the teaching team. Coordinate a peer mentoring scheme for students. Support students to develop through the academic tutorial system. Use a variety of creative methods/materials, challenge ideas, foster debate and encourage students to develop skills in critical discourse and rational thinking. Take the lead on supporting and integrating students with disabilities and any inclusion issues. Coordinate the provision of specialist support to students where nglish is a second language. Contribute to seminar structure and tutorial support. Develop formative, diagnostic and, under direction, summative assessments to measure accurately students performance and understanding. Assess and mark students work, ensuring that learning outcomes have been met and that feedback is both detailed and constructive. Write, develop or adapt learning resources/materials and deliver workshops/tutorials/seminars to support students' overall programme/network progression and performance. Student Support Undertake a role in the monitoring of student engagement, progression and performance through the collection and analysis of attendance and performance data, and to plan appropriate interventions to enhance student retention and progression. Produce detailed reports on progression and performance for Programme Leaders, Programme Committees and Head of Department to underpin the development of Departmental strategies for enhancing learning and teaching. Take responsibility for students with PLPs, assess how support needs will be met within the department, provide occasional one to one support as required, liaise with other tutorial support to ensure specific support needs are met. n particular, to provide a writing support group for students with disabilities. To assist programme leaders and unit tutors by undertaking student facing academic administrative and pastoral duties, addressing issues rapidly to enhance the student's learning experience.

3 To be part of the Department's Personal Academic Tutoring system, assisting Programme Leaders/Heads of Division in maintainting the system, in order to support students in resolving academic challenges. Provide a point of contact for students who have stepped off the programme, who are vulnerable or who are not engaging appropriately with the programme. Service Provision Design, review and adapt module and unit content in response to student feedback and need, with a view to improving student retention. ngage with quality assurance procedures to ensure that University standards are met. Co-ordinate student events, as required, ensuring the effective use of time and resources. Assist with the planning and delivery of induction programmes and on-going induction to support students' transition to H. Assist in appropriate pre-entry, recruitment, selection and admissions activities (including Open Days and Visit Days) in order to promote the department/school and gain a better understanding of student needs/expectations. Provide a first point of contact for student welfare issues, referring problems on where they are complex or serious. Team Working Maintain good working networks and relationships with the University's Student Services units, Student Union Services, Library and T Services to create a vibrant partnership between the Faculty, its students and student support services Liaise with providers of student placement s to ensure students are adequately prepared acdemically for the challenges of practice assessment. Attend Faculty, Department and Programme meetings/boards, as required, in order to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within and across teams. Provide feedback to colleagues via peer mentoring schemes to support the development of self and others and to ensure the continuous improvement of departmental performance. Special Features The post may require some evening and Saturday work in order to deliver effective events such as recruitment fairs and open days.

The allocation of such roles will be subject to the provision of appropriate training and assessment of competence. You may, with reasonable notice, be required to work at any of the Manchester Metropolitan University sites.
