1 BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT HOUSTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM HOUSTON, TEXAS COURSE TITLE BIOLOGY 1309 INTRODUCTORY BIOLOGY II A DISTANCE EDUCATION CLASS ALL WORK IS ONLINE CREDIT 3 SEMESTER HOURS (3 Hours lecture) TEXT BOOK: Essential Biology with Physiology CAMPBELL,Simon, Reece and Dickey, 3rd edition. You may use a recent edition Benjamin Cummings Publishing, GRADING It is recommended that a minimum of 4 examinations (including the final) should be given in a semester. Lecture examinations should make up 100% of the total grade should be allocated to the final examination. In an online course it is also recommended to facilitate graded discussion on current issues related to the course topics to enhance student learning. ACTIVITIES/ASSIGNMENTS Log onto the course EVERY WEEK. Work on the assigned chapters AND DO NOT GET BEHIND. Read the chapters, work as many of the areas for each chapter. They are on the TOGGLE sites by chapters. REQUIRED Take the chapter quiz for each chapter BEFORE the test with at least 70% Special.. NOTE.If you successfully take all test before the deadline (which is the day of the 4 major tests) with a 70% grade with no extension, on time, then your lowest grade will be dropped for an 90, A on your lowest test grade. All s to the instructor must be brief, concise and stated very respectfully. NOTE: Any sent to the instructor that she deems disrespectful in any way, will result in that student being automatically dropped from the class immediately.

2 EXAMS; The 1 st Friday of every Month is exam day. All exams are given online. You must use a highly reliable computer that will not crash because absolutely NO resets or 2nd chances will be given since the situation and claim cannot be documented. If your computer crashes or ANYTHING that locks you out of the exam will cause you to get a ZERO for the test. No use to textbooks is allowed. That is cheating and academic dishonesty.
