CONGRATULATIONS to District Governor Jay Saltzman and wife Ferne and Conference Co-chairs Dorothy Koetz and Keith Sword. Excellent facilities, great speakers and wonderful fellowship. Special recognition goes to the outstanding support and contribution made to the Conference by the RI President s Representative and past RI Director Francisco (Paco) Creo from Mexico. YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM District 5260 has been certified and is now approved and licensed to send and receive foreign exchange students under the Rotary International Program. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Candidates may be sons and daughters of Rotarians and non-rotarians alike. They may be years of age and qualify for 1 of 3 types of exchange programs: 1. Long Term Academic H. S. Exchange *** Application deadline Sept 15, Short Term Exchange = 3-6 wk. Reciprocal exchange with another family in another country 3. New Generation Exchange = y.o. think of it as a customized GSE lite Contrary to a frequent misunderstanding, Rotary Youth Exchange is not a program of the Rotary Foundation. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Cost vary by country. Students and their families are required to provide round-trip transportation, clothing, health and travel insurance, and spending money. For long term exchanges, the host club will pay any school tuition fees and provide a modest monthly allowance. Free room and board are provided by the host families selected by the host club.
