Sophomore Board Candidates President: Ayushi Koppu Hello, my name is Ayushi Koppu and I am running for the position of president on the Sophomore Board. I believe I possess the qualities a good president and leader should harbor. A strong leader doesn t stand over the people but stands with them. I have a few years of experience with having important positions such as being the president of student government or other clubs. I will be the bridge between the administration and the student body constantly exchanging ideas and bringing new ones to the table so the year will be exciting and memorable. I know my responsibilities for this position and the dedication it requires, I will attend and run the meetings with the board. Attendance and planning skills are very important and balancing between my school and presidency. I will keep up with my grades and school work as being president is supposed to set an example for the student body. I will aid in planning for pep rallies, spirt weeks, and new ideas the student body may have. My advanced leadership and analytical skills experience will aid me in carrying out my duties as president. School spirit very important because it helps the students make memorable experiences at school, it takes their minds off of the stress of the work. Promoting school spirit is one of the many jobs the board has and as president, to give creative ideas for spirit. I want to be an advocate for the sophomore student body, I carry the skills and determination for this position. The class of 2019 will be a year of excitement and wonderful memories, as president I want to contribute to this, vote for me, Ayushi Koppu.

Yader Portocarrero As a freshman I walked the halls of John A. Ferguson senior high school on my first day of class I was overwhelmed when I saw the amount of kids the school had and even the amount of kids some of the classes had. It wasn t discouraging though, and looking around at my classmates I knew this wasn t even a bit of the actual population of the school, and I truly wanted to make a difference and leave my stamp on the school I will be attending for the next 3 years. To help raise the standards, and be the figure head to lead the class of 2019 to an amazing time, and a full grasp on the real high school experience, is what I feel I can categorize as a job well done on my part and as the hopeful sophomore board president, I intend on doing just that. When it comes to Ferguson there is so much other than just a great education, but many school organized activities, Miami-Dade County top level sport programs, as well as national level clubs and I feel our class has much to offer in these different aspects and I want to make full use that. as the culmination of all these things is what truly makes up the high school I am so proud of attending. I bring immense school pride, leadership skills, current school involvement as I compete in two sports at the varsity level, and above all trustworthiness. These factors are why I think I am the best candidate for this position. Amanda Lopez Next year, I hope to be a part of the Sophomore Board. I am running for President because last year, unfortunately, I was not able to win the elections and barely any activities were carried out for the Class if I wish to have been able to start a few projects and complete more activities with my class. That is why I am running for president and I hope to win the elections so the Class of 2019 experiences an outstanding sophomore year. An additional idea I am running for office on the Sophomore Board, is so I can encounter what it is like to lead and advice the class both academically and socially. I believe my responsibilities are to always act with honesty, be on my best behavior, and

respect my class the year round. I wish to take full responsibility, along with the other board members, for coming up with fundraisers, field trips, and requesting our sponsor with the Class of 2019 s opinions when it comes to class decisions. I aspire to create friendships and bonds with the sophomores to make next year unforgettable. Next year, I will make sure to provide the board with many designs for our spirit shirts, plans to promote the class trip, and to encourage participation for events and fundraisers that benefit our class. I hope my fellow classmates be informed and give me the shot to prove that I can handle being President in order to make next year as exciting as possible for them and for me. I am a student that is always on cloud nine when it comes to my grades, manages time fairly well, and always maintain organized. I hope to be disposed this opportunity so the Class of 2019 can show their school spirt in pep rallys, school shows, sports games, and at the variety of events and community services Ferguson hosts every year. Vice president: Amelia Jacomino I would like to run for the sophomore board vice president. There are countless reasons why I chose to run for office on the sophomore board but the main reason is because I would really like to be involved in many school activities and I would like to help make the next school year very exciting and unique for the future sophomores. I feel like being vice president of the sophomore board will be an amazing way to be involved in school activities. I believe my responsibilities as vice president include working closely with the president to plan and organize events and to make sure everyone is doing their job. Some other responsibilities I will probably have for this position will be to talk about upcoming events at meetings and fill in for the president when they are absent. Some ideas I have for my position this year include fundraising projects, or with the help of the other students in the board we can plan exciting school activities for the sophomores. I believe that I am really capable of doing a great job as the sophomore board vice president. I am not only very responsible and organized; I am very energetic and outgoing too. I also am a very studious person and I always keep school as a main priority. These are some reasons why you should vote for me but also because I feel like I would be the perfect fit to help represent the future sophomores of this high school.

In my opinion, school spirit means students being excited for upcoming events or students participating in extracurricular activities. Wearing a spirit shirt on Fridays also shows school spirit. School spirit can also mean going to games to support your school s teams or even cheering as loud as you can at pep-rallies. I am very interested in becoming the sophomore board vice president and making the next school year as special as possible for us future sophomores. Secretary: Isabella Moreno Hi I am Isabella Moreno and I want to be your Sophomore Board Secretary. I believe that this position is as important as the others and is ideal for me. I want to run for secretary because I want to be more involved with the class of 2019, and I want to make an impact with my fellow officers. I would also be responsible for all correspondence in the board of sophomores. I believe that we can make our sophomore year amazing! My responsibilities as secretary will be to take notes and make our meetings as organized as possible. Another responsibility as secretary will be to make our trips, and activities are organized and fun as possible. Some ideas that I have will be to make the year more eventful and exciting!! You should vote for me because I will be perfect for the position. I am perfect for it because I am very organized and can take excellent notes. Each time the board meets, I will take notes and keep them secure and neat. School spirit is something everyone has within them. School spirit to me means to be supporting of your school and the activities happening. School spirit isn t something you can say its something you show. Going to a baseball or football game is school spirit, cheering at peprallies is school spirit. Anything positive towards the school is considered school spirit. To wrap it up, vote for Isa Moreno for your class secretary.

Ilayai Nodal My name is Ilayali Nodal and I am currently in my freshmen year, and I will be campaigning for the role of secretary on the Sophomore board. I want to take realistic and constructive steps into the future of our school like. For example, informing students about subjects that go beyond the basic core studies of math, science, history, and English. For instance, I would spread ideas about how to have students become acquainted with the real world. This does not just stop in the classroom and at the workplace, I believe that students should be socially educated, not only by teachers, but by each other. How can I make this all happen? As secretary I am able to keep notes of board meetings, which allows me to back track and highlight what the students want more of. Communication between the board and the students is key to the growth of our school. I want this role to benefit not only my sophomore class, but all of Ferguson. Activities like tutoring, implementing extracurricular clubs, and social events would be a way of spreading not only friendships, but more experiences, cultures, and positivity. This generates a healthy environment for students which creates a foundation for them to branch out and become the creative, open-minded, and confident falcon that every student has the potential of being. My role as secretary would be by contributing to teaching falcons how to fly, because no goal s too high. Emily Goiricelaya Hello, my name is Emily Goiricelaya and I am running for Sophomore Board Secretary. The reason I would like to run for this position is because I take pride in being a falcon and it would be a great pleasure to contribute in being the bridge between the study body and administration. My responsibilities for this position will be to record all information and key points known as minutes in each meeting, handle letter requests as well as letters that will be sent out for activities, field trips, or class events for approval. I will also be in charge of having a copy of the Sophomore Board Constitution to ensure the follow through of each officer and what we are each entitled to contribute to the board. I plan to help maintain a positive learning environment while working as a team with my fellow officers to carry out our planned activities, as well as developing pride in our school and enthusiasm. One specific idea that I would like to implement as secretary with the help of the officers will be encouraging the student body in planning community service projects, having them discover a social problem that they strongly believe they should improve and try to reach out and help fix it. Whether it s poverty or suicide prevention, it should be an important cause to

them and the community. I am very motivated and as secretary I will bring a strong work ethic and organizational skills to the board, I will be a listener to the student body and motivate them to contribute ideas to improve their class activities such as pep rallies, creating class shirts, trips, and anything involving their participation. To me, school spirit means being proud in every aspect of my school from academics to athletics and to show it in a positive manner with fun and creativity yet with respect, care and concern. School spirit is a way of bringing students with different interests together to form a common bond, an experience to meet new people and new things. So, my fellow falcons, do the right thing and vote for me for Class of 2019 Sophomore Board secretary! Publicist: Giselle Garcia I have many reasons for wanting to be a part of the Sophomore Board. I am known to be spirited and very involved in school activities. It is something I genuinely enjoy. I believe being a member of the Board, specifically the publicist, would help me attain my goals of being involved. In my opinion, my responsibilities as publicist would be to stay updated with everything going on in Ferguson and letting the rest of my class know when important events and occurrences will be taking place. One idea I have in mind is being more active with the Twitter page. It could also have competitions or polls going on where it will encourage more people to follow and keep up with it. Another idea would be to make the class shirt based on what people ask for. We could ask the students what ideas they have and we can narrow them down and let them decide. I can also make sure there will be posters set up around the school advertising events, so everyone can be informed. I am definitely biased about this, but I can t see a better candidate for the publicist of the sophomore class than me. I take part in various activities, and I still have time to get straight A s. I would ensure the sophomore class has fun and takes part in events more. And as technology increases, the use of social media is also increasing, so the Board needs someone willing to notify everyone on current events. To me, school spirit means taking part and showing you care. Whether it s for pep rally, a dance competition, or a football game, wherever you take part in shows your spirit.

Laura Perez I, Laura Perez, am running for office on Sophomore Board because I would like to be associated in the school s extra curricular activities. I want to be more involved this school year by helping out in any way, shape, or form that I can. I would also like to be informed first hand on any special events that may be occurring in the near future. As Publicist, it is my responsibility to advertise and promote all Sophomore Board events, such as the selling of shirts, or announcements on field trips. It is also my job to be creative when it comes to producing commercials, designing posters, or writing publications. Keeping the school, or sophomores, up to date with anything that may concern them is essential and priority number one in this aspect. By publicizing and posting pictures on social media such as Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter, students will no longer miss out on the opportunities being granted to them, and if not by online sites, then by school. The morning news crew will broadcast new information as well. As soon as I find out something, the rest of the sophomore class will as well, no one will be left in the dark. I believe I should be voted for this position due to the fact that I am responsible, I know how to prioritize, I do not procrastinate and I because I am truly interested in being the school s sophomore publicist. This is something I wanted to be apart of last year but was not able to do so due to some complications, but if I win the election, I promise to fulfill my duties and follow through with my promises. In my eyes, school spirt means to be incorporated. Whether if it s by wearing your spirit shirt on Fridays, buying chocolate to support a club, joining a club, trying to do the best you possibly can in your classes, keeping your grades and GPA up, attending and cheering at pep rallies and after school games, and motivating others to do well. All of these are great ways to show how prideful you are in attending John A. Ferguson Senior High School.

Faveanny Leyua Hello, I m Faveanny Leyva. To start off I would like to tell you a little about myself; I invest myself in everything I do and I pride myself in working hard and doing a job well done. I enjoy being involved in my community and in my school and I want to get the rest of my class as involved as possible. As sophomore publicist I believe it would be my job to work alongside not only the board but my fellow peers to communicate and deliver a wonderful experience for everyone here at John A. Ferguson Senior High school. Keeping the class informed and involved in school events would also be a big part of my job. I intend to lead by example and encourage my peers to be a part of as many school events as possible. I plan to show school spirit by taking part in school organized activities and cheering on our school at sports events. I would really like to make sure the class of 2019 presence and participation at school functions is accounted for. I plan to keep the class of 2019 s social media pages updated with information on upcoming events and their involvement in sports teams, clubs and other school related activities! I, Faveanny Leyva am the ideal candidate for this position because I possess the strongest qualities needed to be sophomore board publicist. I am social media savvy, amiable and ready to work with the board to keep the sophomores involved and informed.

Historian: Tania Quintero Being historian of class of 2019 would be a great opportunity for me. I am Tania Quintero and I am grateful to be able to participate in this year s elections. Ferguson Senior High School is a school filled with activities, and academies made to fit the student s wishes. I am running for class historian on the Sophomore Board, because I feel I could correctly maintain 2019 s most precious moments. By being historian, I would make it my responsibility to store and capture as many memories in Ferguson as I can. The job comes with many other responsibilities that include creating a personalized memoir on the class s activities. A Historian s job is to record the action and be able to play it back. With this role, I would be giving students a chance to eventually look back on their years, when it s gone too fast. Some ideas I have for the historian position next year, would be to have all the clubs have a rotational period with the Historian. The clubs would plan the activities, show it to the Historian so they can be there to record 2019 s memories. With this job, we can make sure that the clubs aren't ignored and everyone s high school experience is recorded. This could be spread into the other class historians; therefore this would not only benefit my class but the entire school. I would make a good class historian, because I am a very organized, attentive person. To be able to keep track of so many records would be impossible without an effective system. Along side with that, I am attentive and would make sure I can complete everyone s history. I wouldn't leave anything out, because no matter what, that one memory is essential to someone. I could use this skill, to allow every student to have a chance to stop and remember. To me, school spirit is being able to proudly represent your school in any form. If it s from sports, clubs or academics, they all merge to be Falcons. I can proudly say that I attend John A. Ferguson, and hopefully become class of 2019 s Historian.
