We are back with regular dinner hours Wednesday the 2nd and Friday the 4th and will continue through the winter. We will also be here Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for our regular card players. Secretary's Report Mike Morony was nominated to fill the vacancy at Exalted Ruler at the 12/17/12 regular Lodge meeting. A vote will be taken at the January 21st regular Lodge meeting. A motion was made to accept the terms of the following offer to purchase the lease of the cell tower located on the Lodge's land. Elk's Lodge 590 members; The Board of Directors has been presented an offer by Unison ( html) to purchase the cell phone tower that our Lodge currently owns (located near the old cart shed behind #7 green). Currently the Lodge has a lease agreement with Verizon for $1, a month with a yearly increase of 3% for the length of the lease, renewal every five years. The offer from Unison is for a single payment of $140, plus one-half of any future lease agreement(s) Unison reaches with any other providers that request space on the tower. The Board of Directors has voted to accept the offer from Unison, but the official sale of the cell tower requires a vote of the membership. That vote will take place at the regular Lodge meeting scheduled for Monday, January 21, 2013 at 7 p.m. Please attend that meeting to receive additional information and to place your vote for or against the sale. MEMBERS MUST PRESENT A CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE.

2 Veterans Clothes Drive Success Thanks to all who donated to the clothes drive for our veterans. We do not have a count or weight of items donated, but Lecturing Knight Jason Tjarks delivered the items to the VA hospital where it took six shopping carts and ten wheelchairs full to unload. Hoop Shoot Lodge 590 will hold its local Hoop Shoot competition Saturday, January 12th, at Regina school from 9 to 11 a.m. The event is open to boys and girls age 8 to 13. Golf Course Receives Award The IOWA GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENTS ASSOCIATION holds an annual photo contest for its yearly calendar. Superintendent Ned Giles selected the location, and Assistant Superintendent Adam Carr did the camera work and submitted the photo. The photo won the cover photo for the calendar and was also selected for the month of March! The photo was taken in early April, of the Daffodils naturalized in the ravine off number one tee looking southwest. It also shows six green along with the large white oaks to the east if the green in the background of the photo. BEAUTIFUL! Contact the Lodge at if you would like to purchase a calendar. Trustees/House Committee MINUTES 12/3/12 No Meeting MINUTES 12/17/12 I. General Manager Report A. We will finish up a good party season with events 12/20 and 1/19/13 B. Nice crowd for Tom and Jerry party, 25 youngsters and 36 pounds of food sent to Crisis Center and 50 pounds of pet food sent to animal shelter. C. Five local high school boys submitted applications for ENF Most Valuable Student Scholarship, three were chosen to advance. II. Old Business A. Four of six registered letters sent to past dues have responded III. New Business A. B.O.D. will purchase second license for QuickBooks IV.
