Meet the WAAHBS Class of 2017 Candidates!!! Mehul Jain Candidates for President Spirit. Enthusiasm. Enjoyment. Sophomores displaying school spirit unforced. A sense of pride and fulfillment fills the minds of the smarter, experienced 10 th graders. Smiles cracked from their own voices being heard. Implementation of great ideas from the students themselves, not the class council dragging half-hearted individuals into a situation they don t believe in or support. Suggestions on how to improve the class, coming and being accepted from the brilliant brains that occupy these hallways. School not being limited to academics only, but achieving the bigger picture of the addition of sports, clubs, and social events. Students looking forward to spending time after school to meet with friends in events not related to curriculum, but for relishing. The time spent as sophomores actually being referred to as the time of our lives. The realization of the satisfaction felt to help our own grade and the effortless involvement that improves everyone s lives. The Class Council being humble servants of the public. The reality of a stress free environment one step closer. The renewed excitement of coming to school. The class not standing as individuals, but together as one. More volunteer opportunities than there are students in the grade. Fundraising for events that you want to happen. Having products that you want to pay for. Creating motivation to help our own class become more successful. Attain alertness for every single spirit day. Generating prestigious reputation around our class. Obtaining our full potential through activities other than academics. That s the vision that compels me. Gabriel Kulik My name is Gabriel Kulik and I am running for the position of President in the school year for the Class of I am running to make a change in this school, and more specifically for the rising sophomores. I want every class in my grade to be equally involved in all decisions and have a say in what is sold and what events they want to have. I am running for office so that no student feels like they don t belong or are not involved. I want every student in my grade to feel accepted and wanted, and want to make sophomore year better than their freshman year. I believe that with me as president, every student will have more fun than freshman year. Sophomore year will be the best year that my class will have out of all the years here that we will have. I plan to make sophomore year a fun year, that creates memories and makes money that will benefit us in senior year with prom and graduation. My goal is to more than double the amount of money that we made freshman year and prepare our class to be the model for all future classes. As President, I would work with all other Class Council members to raise money and plan events for our class and make our sophomore year a year to remember for my grade, and work with other classes to make this school a place of learning and memories.
Candidates for President (Continued) Shivam Patel Class of 2017: Most of you already know me and my strive for ambitious goals. There are several reasons to why I have decided to run for office this year. During freshman year, our class made approximately 2,200 dollars. In a financial mindset, that s fantastic; but in my mindset, there s always potential to improve. I m running for president in order to gain the ability to implement the capital we have at the moment in the most efficient way in order to maximize it. Additionally, I want to establish a social connection between the council and the students. Given that I have my phone 24/7, this could be the launch of an opportunity for the kids of our grade to demonstrate and display the ideas they have. Moreover, as our last president steps down after accomplishing a great year of triumphs via bake sales and spirit days, I believe I would be a great replacement. I know the system of student council in and out with a complete understanding. Winning this election wouldn t prove to have any changes in my schedule. I know that most of you are looking for the smartest kid with the most impressive resume of talents. I m just the opposite! I participate in minimal extracurricular activities; therefore I will be able to devote countless hours to benefit our class. All in all, I know I m not the most knowledgeable or extraordinary choice out of all the people running, but I know that I m the right choice. Megh Shah I am Megh Shah and am running for the position of President of our class council in tenth grade. I am running for this position because I know that I am fit for the challenges and have all of the qualities that a great president should have. I am trustworthy, approachable, hardworking, organized, and always ready. I am a trustworthy person and this is an important trait because a president should be one of his word. I will carry forward with whatever I say and will make sure that our class functions on a basis of honesty. I will also be very responsible and will make sure that all the work that needs to be done will be carried out very efficiently. I will make sure our class raises enough money to have the dances and trips that we want in the long run. As many may know, I am a very friendly and approachable person as well. Aside from being your president, I am also your classmate so anyone can approach me and give me an idea that they think I should implement. I will listen and make my best efforts to meet the ideas that anyone may have. I am also very hardworking, organized, and have always aimed for perfection. Anything that I do will be worth the effort. Finally, I am always ready for any problems that may arise and will make sure they don t stand in my way. I look forward to being your president. Karina Thanawala The purpose of Class Council is to plan activities, events, and fundraisers that are in the best interest of the entire Class of I have been a member of Student Council for four years in my home district, and the secretary of our chapter of National Junior Honor Society, so I believe that I, Karina Thanawala, have developed the qualities that are necessary for an effective Class Council President. As President, my goal would be to help our class not only financially, but in all aspects of school lifestyle. I can help our class earn the money we need for future events like prom or senior trip because of my skills as an entrepreneur. I run my own non-for-profit charity in which I have successfully raised the money to send a child in India to engineering school. In addition to finances, I want to make sure that we enjoy our sophomore year here, and we get to know each other as a class much better. As president, I will not only listen to your ideas, but also will make sure the class discusses the idea and the class view is greatly considered in the decision-making process. With a united class, we can work together to fundraise and come up with creative ideas. To raise money for our class, it is not only the effort of the Class Council Officers, but the entire class as a whole. With my leadership skills, we can surpass our goals one step at time.
Candidates for Vice President Michelle Grzelczak My name is Michelle Grzelczak. I am running for Vice President. For those who know me, you know that I am extremely determined. I always give 200 percent towards everything that I do. I m running for Vice President because I want to change our perspective of our school. I want to be a part of this school and contribute to making it the very best it could ever be. My goal, as Vice President is to earn our class as much money as possible and to make our sophomore year, as well as the next three years, a great experience with everlasting memories. The main thing I would try to improve for our class is the school spirit. I believe that together we can make our high school year beyond fabulous! That is why, I want to run; to make sure that we can participate in many events like school dances, spirit days, and other fun fundraisers that can, not only, raise us money for prom and school trips but also make this year unforgettable. This school has such a unique atmosphere filled with awesome kids, and I am so thankful that I can spend the next three years of high school with all of you. We all want to have an amazing high school experience, why not start today? Please vote for me as Vice President. It is a choice you will not regret. Yours truly, Michelle Grzelczak Arvin Mohapatra I am Arvin Mohapatra and I am running for the position of Vice President for the Class of I am the most fitting candidate for this position for many reasons. The first reason is that I have the ability to offer many ideas to come up with fun and engaging events, trips, etc. In addition, I am capable of working with whoever are my colleagues. Therefore, the working environment of the class council will most likely always be positive and optimistic. I am also a very approachable person, if any one has any ideas that he or she would like to share regarding any topic, I am always more than willing to listen to what they have to say and I would certainly bring it up in class council meetings if the idea were suitable enough. I can also tolerate any criticisms that anyone may have regarding me, or regarding the decisions that the class council makes. Also, I m more than willing to listen to anyone s opinions on certain ideas that we have made. Furthermore, I am a very hardworking individual, if a task is handed to me, I will make sure that the task is accomplished and that I completed it using all of my effort. Additionally, I welcome change; change in my opinion opens new doors to brand new and more innovative ideas. Becoming the vice president of the tenth grade class will allow me to help our class achieve many great feats in the near future. Vraj Shah My name is Vraj Shah and I m running for vice president of the Class of I m running for candidacy because I want to make a change and help our class. I have the time, ideas, and dedication necessary to be an effective Vice President. I have many ideas planned to make next year exciting and to help our class raise money. I have plans ranging from apparel sales to interesting events. I m also very open minded and easy to talk to, and I will listen to all of your concerns, advice, and anything else you would like to communicate to the class council. I will make sure that each and every one of your voices is heard. I am a natural leader and I have shown that by being captain of the junior varsity soccer team. Although I can t promise bigger lockers or better lunch food, I can promise that we will make a lot money next year and that next year will be filled with exciting activities. As most of you know, I am very dedicated and I put 110% into everything that I do, be it studying or playing soccer. I will do the same by putting a 110% into being Vice President. Sophomore year is known as the best year of high school and you can make sure that it will be the best year by voting Vraj Shah for Vice President. Vote for the best, I ll do the rest. Vote Vraj Shah for Vice President.
Candidates for Secretary Atul Bhattiprolu Hi, I am Atul Bhattiprolu, and I am running for the position of Secretary for the Class of The position of Secretary is one that is very important in the Class Council; it requires a strong work ethic, neatness and organizational skills, good communication skills, good writing skills, dedication, and responsibility, all traits I believe I possess. It also requires an individual to think and contribute ideas to their Class Council, in order to help benefit their Class, which I am capable of. However, possessing these traits, and being able to think creatively are not all it takes to become Secretary; one has to have a motive, and I have several. To begin with, I am running for Secretary, because as of now, I have several skills which can be used by the Class Council, that are being to put to waste. If elected, I will be able to use these skills to help benefit our class, and achieve our goals. Furthermore, I am running for Secretary, as I want to involve the Class more in our decisions. Currently, our Class and Officers rarely communicate, and this has led to the Class having less say in decisions. To continue, I am running for Secretary, as I want to improve the stability of our Class Council. By giving specific roles to Officers and changing techniques, this is possible. Lastly, I am running for Secretary, as I want to help make sophomore year fun and amazing, for us all to enjoy. Sarah Goldshteyn Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Goldshteyn and I m running for secretary of the Class of I was secretary this prior year so I have experience with the student council process. This year we made over $2,200 which greatly exceeded our goal. I hope that I can continue helping our class so that in our sophomore year we can meet or surpass how much we made this year. I really enjoyed being in the student council because it helped me stay involved with our class. It was great seeing everyone get together to help support us. Student council allowed me to get to know people and make connections with you all. I am running again because I think I am good for this position and am very organized when taking notes and recording events. I really hope that I can continue being in student council this next year so that I can be involved and provide my ideas such as the success of my Ugly Sweater Day idea and many more to come. I think that student council as a whole can still create so many fun, new and exciting ideas to carry on to next year. Please consider me to be the secretary of the upcoming sophomore class!
Candidates for Secretary (Continued) Simran Jasnani Freshman year was a year for us to experiment. A year to try new things and to become comfortable with our new environment. Sophomore year will be the year we learn from our mistakes and play with this new sense of perception. It will be a new year, with new experiences, but the only difference will be that we know our strengths and weaknesses. We just have to use them to our advantage. I am running to assist us in doing so, to be involved in this experience. To help our class reach its potential, so that we can overcome the challenges that this school throws our way. The needs of my fellow classmates, as well as mine should be accounted for. Everyone should be able to contribute to the overall advancement of our class, and I want to act as a vector for that. As vector for participation, I will encourage my class to become more active. My hope is to increase the bond between all four classes in this school with increased cooperation between peers. Through this way, my goal is to make an impact on others. Together, our class can strive to reach every goal we set for ourselves. I want upcoming classes to recognize us for what we did, the impact we left from the events we planned and executed. Most of all, I want everyone in this class of 2017 to remember our years as joyful, not stressful. This is why I m running for secretary. Devanshi Patel Hello class of 2017! I am Devanshi Patel and I m running to be the next secretary for our class of 2017! Everyone here wants to raise enough money to fund the best possible events for our senior year, allowing us to make amazing memories. This all comes down to great ideas and taking the initiative to make everything happen. I am willing to take the first steps to do what needs to be done. As secretary, it s my job to keep our class updated with what is happening with our class fundraising, as well as observe and keep track of how everything is working. As secretary, I will interact with all classes, share ideas, and accept suggestions and feedback. My job as secretary does not just end here. Being secretary I will help the rest of the class council members to come up with ideas to make the best of our high school experience. Talking about ideas, we all want to have fun not only in senior year but throughout our entire high school experience. High school happens only once and we should make the most of it. So keeping everyone s interests in mind, I am planning to keep mini basketball tournaments along with other popular sports and artistic events. For those who enjoy reading, I am planning to hold a battle of the books. My goal is to help the class raise enough money to create fabulous memories. I welcome other efficient ideas to help our class to fundraise!
Candidates for Treasurer Priya Nigam I m Priya Nigam, and I want to be the Treasurer for the Sophomore Class of The reasons I want to become treasurer are simply that I want our class to succeed, and I believe I can help to make that possible. If elected, I promise to represent our class and take everyone s opinions into account. I will manage our money so that we profit more from our fundraising and sales by making smarter, more strategic investments and buying products to sell in wholesale. I am running for office because I think that I have the skills, ideas, and determination to help the Class of 2017 become as successful as possible. The Class of 2017 is full of innovative ideas to raise money, and I want to be an intermediary for these unspoken voices to be heard. I want to become treasurer to truly make an impact for the rising sophomore class by managing its finances and helping to plan its events. I am running for class council because I believe that with the right people in office, the Class of 2017 can raise enough money to have experiences that would be impossible without organized and sufficient fundraising that needs to begin now. This is the time to take the future of our class seriously because any trips, events, or experiences that we want to have will depend directly on who is in office. Vote for me for Sophomore Class Treasurer because I want to be trusted with that future. Rebecca Novo Hello. My name is Rebecca Novo and I am running for Treasurer of the Class of I am doing this because I want to make our sophomore year activities as fun and creative as possible, while raising money. I know I can greatly contribute to the Class of So far, in our freshmen year we have already raised over $2,100! I am experienced at the job and willing to take time out of my personal schedule to do it. I am responsible, good at fundraising and handling money, active in the school community and know how to talk to the other students and faculty. I know how to efficiently save money on items to purchase as well as what to sell to make a profit. I will be able to save money for future events like prom while have some to spend some on fun occasions for 2015 like class trips. I m also running because I love helping out and can get a job done when asked! I m very organized and a hard worker and am dedicated to making our class better. I will be able to listen to everyone s concerns, take suggestions, plan creative activities like my 70s Day and help with decision making. Being the class treasurer will also allow me to give back to my school and fellow classmates. I am optimistic that we will have a great sophomore year and I want to be a part of making that happen. Hassaan Saeed Good morning fellow students and teachers. My name is Hassaan Saeed and I am running for class treasurer. I know that I can help our class council better manage its money for specific uses. I have had experience before with handling money since I have raised money in fundraisers in my middle school. I have great math grades and have been used to dealing with money. Our class council is excellent and I hope to help out the class government as much as I can by being treasurer. I have many great ideas for fundraisers I think outside of the box most of the time. I believe that these ideas might really help out my class and have all the classmates participate in them. They would also help raise lots of money for the class. I realize that being a treasurer doesn t just require being good at math and handling money but also being responsible, hardworking, honest, and trustworthy. Whatever money the class raises, will not be spent on anything without the class s consent since this is not my money but the class s. The class has a say to where the money should go. I will just provide the ideas and keep the money safe and sound for future class activities. In conclusion these are the many things I would do as treasurer and why I am fit to be treasurer.
