2 the infield: internal relations & projects Choose Your Own Adventure grade 8 leadership conference The conference was very successful thanks to the hard work of Laura Burke, David Simmonds, Jacqueline Cole and the entire USC Board, staff and managers. Closing Luncheon featured speeches from many guests of honour including Chris Bentley, London MPP & Minister of Training Colleges & Universities; Deb Matthews, London MPP & President of the Ontario Liberal Party; and Irene Mathyssen, London MP

3 the infield: internal relations & projects Choose Your Own Adventure grade 8 leadership conference We also gave 2 students a $500 RESP contribution Check out OUSA s blog at for an interesting summary of the weekend As follow-up to the conference, David, Laura and I with input from the LDs, grade 8s, parents and schools will be evaluating how to move forward with the conference in future years through outlining our vision and goals for its growth and success.

5 the outfield: external relations CASA Lobby Conference Fab, Matt Reid (External Affairs Commissioner) and I attended this conference in Ottawa We met with MPs, Senators, bureaucrats about CASA s lobby priorities including: Dedicated Education Transfer & Pan- Canadian Accord on PSE Expansion of the Canada Access Grant Renewal of the Canadian Millennium Scholarship Foundation Me (and CASA members from the University of Calgary and SAIT) - being very busy and important outside of the Prime Minister s office before a meeting with him.

6 the outfield: external relations London North Centre By-Election This is a very important by-election - the results of which will make a significant difference in Parliament. All the campus political clubs have been very active in this campaign. The Candidates: Green Party: Elizabeth May NDP: Megan Walker Liberals: Glen Pearson Conservatives: Diane Haskett

7 homerun hitters: my commissioners Once again, a great big thank you to 3 commissioners in my portfolio: David, Laura and Jacqueline for their work on Choose Your Own Adventure Also, while the LDs from the conference aren t all formally my commissioners, I really can t stress how amazing each and every one of them was during the conference.
