2 ANTELOPE PARK COMMUNITY PROJECTS ALERT EDUCATION CENTRE 0 This month we held a graduation at Antelope Park, with the kids having an elephant interaction, snake viewing, horse ride and lion enclosure tour as part of the day! An unforgettable experience that not only teaches you about the projects you are on but about the cultures of Zimbabwe and your fellow volunteers. It teaches you about yourself and what more you want from life. You become friends with people in a way you wouldn't think possible and the amazing experience you have makes going home really hard Emma Cooper 26, UK

3 MCHC (Boys Orphanage) 0 As part of the Christmas party, the volunteers cooked a special meal, played games, danced and handed out presents! CLINIC 0 Volunteers attended to 16 mothers and babies by checking their weight and blood pressure in the labour ward patients were attended to by the recording of temperature, blood pressure and weight during observations. 0 Volunteers witnessed the birth of 3 babies and assisted by measuring height, weight and head circumference in the Post Natal department. 0 7,860 pills were counted and packaged 0Donations were gifted to Mtapa Clinic and Mkoba Polyclinic of medical supplies, scrubs and stationary I traveled to AP as a part of my education, and had no idea of how amazing and how fast this weeks would fly away. The first day I arrived I had no clue that I would come to love this place, and the staff so much that i am doing today. I've done so much, experienced so much different things, and I have so many impressions that I'll take home with me. I've helped out in the clinics, made food for the homeless children in Gweru and danced with the orphaned boys at the orphanage. I have done homework and held a Christmas party for children with special needs, who are otherwise a burden for their families in everyday life. I've got to know so many amazing people and I've learned their stories, and I will bring them with me always. I have grown as a human being these four weeks, I've learned a lot about myself, but I also see how lucky I am to live in Norway and have a welfare system that works. It's with a heavy heart that I'm leaving from this project, I will come back one day! Elin Gravdal 24, Norway

4 ANTELOPE PARK STABLES THIS MONTH:.0 We welcomed the foal, Holly to the stables!! She has quickly become everyone s favourite (sorry to Jackie the donkey!) 0 Duchess was taken to Bulawayo for x-rays and is making a recovery after injuring her hoof. The horses were de-wormed and volunteers assisted with African Horse sickness jabs. 0 We welcomed two new horses to the stables family, Dom and Bullion and sadly said goodbye to Casa who moved to Bulawayo 0 Finished the feed room and created AP s very own cross country course! Lots of building and creative thinking went into it by the volunteers. 0 Celebrated the festive season in style (as seen below!) My stay at the horses and Lions project was fantastic! Memories i never will forget. You will learn so much, and experience things you never would imagined. I have new friends all over the world, and antelope park feels like a second home to me. 5 Lion rehabilitation & release into the wild program HOURS ON PROJECT Antelope Park is really an amazing project, that I have loved being a part of. Getting to be hands on with amazing animals such as lions and elephants has been incredible. Truly an experience that I would not be without! 6 VOLUNTEER FEEDBACK Volunteering with African Impact was a great experience. The work I did was rewarding and the people I met are now lifelong friends. I enjoyed meat prep and research the most. It's sad to leave but I will be back. Billy Adams 24, USA PROJECT NEWS 0 The volunteers have been doing lots of sessions of behaviour enrichment this month, making toys for the lions out of elephant poo and various scents. 0 They have also started building a platform and waterhole in our newest enclosure, ready for some lions to move in! 0 During Stage 1 Lion Walks - Tonga, Ruva and Tamuka killed an adult impala in front of the volunteers! 0 The L s have continued with their Stage 1 Day Encounters, although no kills have been made since last month.
