1 August 26, 2016 Dear Eighth Grade Parents, We are excited to share the details of the annual 8 th grade Washington, D.C. trip. The dates of the trip are November 30 th - December 3 rd The cost, based on three students to a room, is $1, per student. This cost includes airfare, motor coach to New Orleans, trip insurance, hotel, tour bus, tour guide, historical exhibits, and food. However, due to Papa John s Pizza profits, Bayside Academy is able to offer a $ subsidy per student. Your account will be billed $ per student for the trip. Students may bring money for souvenirs if they choose. Please sign the attached information and return to Ms. Reibe or the Upper School office by September 30 th, Information included in this packet are: 1. Commitment form 2. Please report to Bayside Academy student parking lot located off Belrose Avenue, behind the SAC building at 5:00 am November 30 th, A motor coach will be waiting to transport students and chaperones to the New Orleans International Airport. There will be a parent meeting on October 25th, 2016 at 5:30 in the Bay Room. Also, parents please join us for coffee to meet our chaperones, Jamie Ferguson, Adam Richardson, Wade Long, Gail Tart, Christina Ricks, and Dee Tran, Friday, September 9th, 2016 at 7:20 a.m. in the Bay Room. Southwest Airline baggage information link is provided below. Any deviation in the allowed baggage will be absorbed by the parent prior to departure. 3 Bayside Academy 8 th Grade Class Trip Rules and Policies While visiting Washington D.C., students are expected to follow all Bayside Academy rules as stated in the student handbook. However, the nature of the trip requires that additional expectations are clearly communicated. While our goal is to provide a unique educational experience, we are first and foremost concerned about safety. Students must adhere to curfew and may not leave their hotel room after curfew. Students must remain with the group at all times. Swimming in the hotel pool will not be permitted. It is critically important that students recognize that they are touring Washington D.C. as a large group; students must be prompt for all excursions and realize that their behavior affects the experience of all involved. Students who violate the rules of the trip will be sent home at the parents expense. We do not foresee that we will have any problems, but it is essential that these rules are followed.
