March 2 - Talent Show Book Fair 9 - Title I Event 10 - All Pro Dads Breakfast 24 - fast 24 - PTO Mother Son Event Hello, my name is Carlee Hanchak and I am thrilled to join Achilles Elementary School as your School Counselor! For the past few months, I have been filling in for Mrs. Robinson and while we are sad to see her go, I am very excited for the opportunity to continue working with such wonderful students and staff members! I grew up in many different areas including Northern Virginia and New Hampshire, but have come to call Hampton Roads home. I have a bachelors degree in psychology from UVA-Wise and a masters degree in school counseling from ODU. In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing with a book or catching the latest comic-to-big-screen adaptations. I am looking forward to finishing the school year with each of you here at Achilles! 30 - Early Dismissal 1:30 pm 30 - Red Cross Blood Drive 31 - No Students April 1 & 2 - Daffodil Festival Report Cards 20 - Kindergarten Registration 20 - Food Lion Math Night 28 - Spring Picture Day 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
2 Thru the Woods What did you want to be when you grew up? Well, when I was growing up, all I wanted to be was a musician. I learned how to play the clarinet, the alto saxophone and the flute. I was very good at all three instruments. I also had interest to become a businessman. My parents became fearful that if I went on to become a professional musician, I would probably end up starving to death. So they strongly encouraged me to become a business major in college. I have never regretted that decision. How many years have you lived in Gloucester? My wife (Susie) and I moved to Gloucester County in 1980, shortly after we were married. We later had two children, a son Phillip and a daughter Christina. They began their academic career at Abington Elementary, Page Middle and then finally Gloucester High School. They both went to college and now work at Huntington Ingalls Industries. We are very proud of them. We plan on staying in Gloucester for the rest of our lives. We love it here so much. What was your first job? As I said earlier, I wanted to become a professional musician. I had my eye on a professional clarinet, which at the time cost about $600. And so, at the age of 15, I started working at Hardees's flipping burgers. I flipped and saved until I reached my $600 goal and then quit and bought that clarinet. How long have you been a member of the Board of Supervisors? I have been a member of the Board of Supervisors for the last three years. I have enjoyed every second of it because I want to look out for the citizens of the County and County employees. I am very proud of the work we have done thus far. I also now serve as Chairman and will be running for reelection this coming November. Please DO NOT use Thru the Woods Road THIS IS A PRIVATE ROAD! Follow the diagram below to drop-off and pick-up your child/children. A member of the Achilles staff will be there to help unload and load your child/children from the right side (passenger side) of your vehicle. Afternoon DO NOT BLOCK BRIDGE Achilles Overflow Parking Morning Parsonage Parking Guinea Road Union Baptist is brought to you by the GLOUCESTER COUNTY Achilles Department of...
