1 BENTWOOD S EVENING MEETING welcomes OLIVER BUCK REVELL ASSOCIATE DEPUTY DIRECTOR, FBI, (RET.) After five years in the U.S. Marines, Mr. Revell served 30 years as a Special Agent and Senior Executive of the FBI. At FBI Headquarters he was Assistant Director in Charge of Criminal Investigations, including terrorism. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Interagency Group for Counter-Intelligence and on the Terrorist Crisis Management Committee of the National Security Council. In 1987, he was placed in charge of a joint FBI/CIA/U.S. military operation which led to the first apprehension overseas of an international terrorist. Mr. Revell has received many medals and honors, including a Commendation from the Secretary of Defense for his efforts to protect the Homeland during the Desert Storm Operation and at one time he received an award by the Middle East Forum for his efforts in the fight against International Terrorism. Buck Revell has provided us with an unbelievable amount of information as our speaker several times. If you want to know what is going on in this country and across the world that may have a profound effect on your future, you must not miss the opportunity to meet and hear him. FROM THE PRESIDENT S DESK: Security, Organized Crime, Terrorism-----Buck Revell is an expert in all these subjects. His long career in the FBI prepared him to be an International Consultant. You won t want to miss our October 8 th evening meeting. Mr. Revell will give a presentation and then will conduct a question and answer period. What better way to get an answer to the questions that you ve always wanted to ask. Thanks, Barbara, for securing Buck for our meeting. Our October meeting presents a great opportunity to invite family and friends to join us. Alice Dietz and Bev Ahlstrom are planning an array of wonderful food for you to enjoy. Please plan to attend and bring a guest or two with you. Those members who attended the Power Rally on September 8 th were treated to a perfectly planned event. The speakers were all outstanding. They saved the best till last when the microphone was turned over to Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona. All the members of DCCRW who worked on this event should be very proud. They did a great job. Don t forget that we ll start collecting 2013 dues at our October meeting. It would be helpful if you d fill out the form at home. Be sure you fill in all the blanks including your precinct number and senate district. Then put the form and your check in an envelope and give it to Fran Gant or Bev Shukis. We want to get the dues collected as soon as possible. The dues are the same as last year---$38 for a membership, $20 for an associate (This is a great opportunity to ask our husbands to join us) and $25 for a dual membership. October 22 nd to November 2 nd are the dates for early voting. Getting out the vote will be the most important thing. We can help by offering to drive others to the polls. See you on the 8 th. The Nominating Committee presented its Slate of Officers at the September Board Meeting. Nominations may also be made from the floor with the prior consent of the nominee. Election of 2013 Bentwood Officers will be held at the October meeting Bentwood will soon have an attractive fold over card advertising our club and its meetings The USO received a large box of treats from Bentwood for the soldiers returning to DFW. Bentwood volunteers wrote a huge stack of postcards for Representative Stefani Carter in her tight race for reelection. Use the enclosed membership form to renew your Bentwood membership for Dictionaries will be delivered to Carolyn Bukair Elementary students in October The basket is passed each general meeting for donations to our Wounded Warrior project. DCCRW will have its November meeting on the 13 th (because of election day). DCCRW s Christmas Tea is December 4. Bentwood s Christmas Party is December 12 at Bent Tree Country Club.
