2 The Informer Page 2 Greetings Ladies- The President Shares Clara Horton As you are in the middle of the Lenten Season, I am hopeful you are reflecting on what Jesus did for each of us on the cross. Enjoy the beautiful weather and see His glory in all things. Yes, its almost April and we wonder where January, February, and March went. We started the year with Officers Training at First United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Learning took place, fellowship, and delicious refreshments were enjoyed by all there. If you missed it, the forms will be included in The Informer. Hope you will make plans to join us for Day Apart, Saturday April 11, 2015 at St. James UMC, Clover; registration starts at 9 am. Conference events coming up: Spiritual Growth Retreat May 1-2, or May at Lake Junaluska, NC. Yvette Richards, President of United Methodist Women, will be the speaker. The registration form is enclosed. Come Together, Be Together May 16, 2015 St. Mark UMC, Taylors, SC. Registration form is enclosed. Mission u for ages 12 to 102 Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25 ending about 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to grow and study. See information enclosed. Any questions please ask. As our conference president Marlene Spencer has challenged each of us to be a light in a dark work, I also challenge you to take the opportunity to join us as we show our Faith, Hope and Love in Action. Our speaker for the morning will be The Reverend Emily Scales Sutton, serving as pastor of Bethel and Philadelphia UMC in the Rock Hill District. From the Nominating Committee: The Rock Hill District Nominating Committee is working to fill positions with faithful and dedicated women. Look within your units and encourage qualified ladies to become a part of the district team. We ask that they contact a member of the committee so they can be considered for a position. 4 The Informer Page 4 READING PROGRAM BOOK EXCHANGE Ladies, remember to bring books for the Exchange. These are books from that all in your unit have read. It would be very helpful if you included a slip of paper with the year and category. You can exchange them for books your unit does not have. Don t have any to exchange? You are still welcome to take books. This is a good way for a unit to start the Reading Program without a great expense!!!! At A Day Apart stop by the Resource Table and add to your unit s Reading Program library. Reading Program Q & A: Q: If one person in the unit reads a book, and reports, does everyone in the unit receive credit? A: No Q: What are Bonus Books? A: Books that can be used in two categories. The one it is listed in and another where you think it fits or it may count as two books in its designated category. Q: Can you receive credit in the Reading Program for reading the Mission Study Guides? A: Yes, but only for the year that the Mission Study Guide is part of Mission U. More Q & A next issue. 10 The Informer Page 10 Charter for Racial Justice Diamond Units The Diamond Unit certificate is awarded at each District Annual Meeting to each unit that completes three or more activities from the list below that demonstrates the unit s commitment to the ideals in the Charter for Racial Justice. At least one of the diamond-marked activities must be included. You are to send a copy of this completed form to your District Social Action Coordinator before August 15 in order to be recognized at your district annual meeting and receive the Diamond Unit certificate.
