We not only work hard for our money, but we also will be working hard to get those dropped sisters back on our membership rosters as this year s re-enrollees. Ladies, we have a lot of work to do because 811 members were dropped last year 663 of them simply were for non-payment of dues. I have a list of every Auxiliary sister who was dropped last year. If you want to know who from your auxiliary was dropped, talk to your secretaries or get in touch with me and lets get those members back. Remember, Every Member Owes A Member Annually! It doesn t get any easier than to get one who already was a member and knows what we re all about. If she simply just forgot to pay her dues remind her now, sign her back up and get her involved again in the greatest organization in the world. Tiffany and I have chosen a great State Charity for the coming year, Spina Bifida Association of Iowa and we are asking for your support. You can find information about the charity on our Iowa web-site and watch the video. You can also check the agenda on the web site or in the state bulletin for times and places of the state charity fundraisers. 3 The Iowa F.O.E. Connection Card ofthanks Thank you, Iowa, for your support Wow, what can I say. It came as a complete surprise at our state convention in Des Moines when PSP Barb Roush read a letter of support for me to run for Grand Auxiliary office. Although I had been approached by several people over the last few years to think about the Grand Auxiliary, I really hadn t put a lot of thought toward it. And I had no idea Barb had planned to read such a letter. Then on to Florida. I was quite surprised when the nominating committee read my name for outside guard. I was even more surprised when after the election, I was declared the Grand Madam Outside Guard. What an awesome opportunity and one I didn t expect. To each and everyone one of my sisters and brothers here in Iowa as well as the other states and provinces who supported me in this next chapter of my Eagle career thank you. You will not be forgotten and please know how proud I am to represent my home club (Red Oak #2715) as well as the State of Iowa during this next year. Kim Haidsiak Grand Madam Outside Guard E.W.H.F. Eagles Wanna Have Fun Guys and gals, from every corner of the great magnificent state. You can find your way to the big bad Capital City to attend the great state fair. Guaranteed to entertain you and cause your sides to ache from laughing. Guaranteed to touch your soul and make you proud to be an Eagle. Our band will be bringing you a taste of the 1980 s, for those of us who remember it and those of us who don t. Each district brought it pretty good last year and we expect nothing less this year as we visit the zone conferences. So come on out and spend every last dime you ve made supporting the charities we all know and love, and BE AMAZED!! 4 Page 4 July 2014 G se Eggs Knock em Down Hey all you Sports Fans out there! What happened to all my backup? We ALL need to hike up our jock straps and get the ball rollin for RANGO and our team. We had 15 Aeries showing a big fat goose egg for the month of June. Let s hope a lot of this was due to some late reporting, as I know June is a very busy month. So now, let s all do our part and get out there and score some touch downs (new members) and field goals (re-enrolled) and keep our safety points in check and have NO GOOSE EGGS the rest of the year. Remember: It s all about NET GAIN (and I m not talkin about basketball!) If you don t get a net gain on the field, you re going backward. That s what we have to change in each of our local Aeries. Till next time, keep knockin em down! Your State Goose-Egg Chairman Mike Gilson Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund Thank WCRP Janice Lauffer for asking me to be the chairperson for this worthwhile cause. It The Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund was created in 2001 at the Eagles International Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, to serve as an outlet for Aeries & Auxiliaries to issue grants to groups aiding citizens crippled by spinal cord injuries. The Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund is dedicated to improving the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of Americans living with the results of spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D) and their families. Did you know there are 250,000 Americans with spinal cord injuries 11,000 new injuries occur each year 82% are male The average age of an injured person is 31 This fund has partnered with the National Spinal Cord Injury Association to provide funds for research, and to develop and evaluate new ways of assisting middle-aged and older persons living with the long-term effects of SCI/D. Reed, a Past Grand Worthy President of the F.O.E., was a longtime charity fund director and served as a full-time employee of the Grand Aerie following his year as President in 1975 until his retirement in If you are planning an event please let know! Pam Mathiesen Recruiting Coach Report Hello Brothers, A huge Thank You for those that helped me get a membership report, and glad we are off to a good start. Now, I just need to retrieve my password!!! Let s get out there and signup members for Coach Randy. More importantly remember to check the drop lists and get those members signed back up before we have to drop them. Let s try to have every Aerie be a net gain Aerie. Jim Zumbach, State Membership Chairman Manchester Aerie Knockout s Eye of the Tiger The Iowa F.O.E. Connection Hello Ladies, The year is started and we need to start our training and get the delinquency down. Hopefully with the help of my trainer s we can get the numbers down and keep them that way. I hope everyone had a good time at the State Convention and are ready to relive the 80 s. Those of you that were unable to attend the Convention don t know what you missed, hopefully we will see you at the Convention. For the Auxiliary Secretary s you can send your reports to me by or by U.S. mail. I noticed that my zip code was wrong on the flyers that were passed out at State Convention so here is the correct address to send your reports to: Robin Cunningham 411 North Second Street to: rcunningham@alpinecom.net Guttenberg, Iowa, If you have any questions you can give me a call: Home Phone - (563) or Cell Phone - (563) Let s keep working out, to get Delinquency down, Robin Cunningham aka KNOCKOUT Stay in Sync - Remove the PINK! For Healthier Aeries and Auxiliaries I have been appointed by State Madam President Tiffany to act as your Compliance Officer this year. We accomplished many issues last year and will continue this year also. If anyone needs any help or a problem arises, please don t hesitate to call me and I will help in any way I can. We will be working closely with the Compliance Administrator at the Grand Aerie to see that Iowa is doing everything they can to be in good health. One task we have implemented this year is to see that every Auxiliary in the State has a cursory survey done. It is not to see who is in trouble, only to use as a tool to see where improvements can be made. So if you receive a call letting you know when yours will be done, please help in any way you can to make the job go smooth. Thanks in advance for you help. There are currently 21 Iowa Auxiliaries either without insurance, needing to renew a policy or just simply needing to send in the current policy to the Grand Aerie. I think with a gentle reminder, we can get this all cleaned up in a short amount of time. Sisters, unfortunately we live in a world of sue happy people so we need to cover not only us, but the Grand Aerie as well. Please talk with your Aerie Secretary to make sure you are covered under their policy. I know they will take the time to help you. If you are not sure if it applies to you, please contact me and I will share that information with you. I am also seeing some that need to file their 990. You may file your 990 anytime after June 1 but it needs to be completed by October 15. Very simple procedure, most have already done it but it is also something that is easily forgotten. We have very little to fix in our Iowa Auxiliaries. We have come a long way since this time last year so with everyone s help, we will all be in Compliance with the Grand Aerie. If we work together, I know we can remove all our Pink Boxes and Be In Sync Shelley Zimmerman - IA State Auxiliary Compliance Officer
