It was a very impressive sight to see the riders and horses decked out in our uniform. Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or experience 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. We had a Panton Hill Team and a composite team competing. Both teams collected many first placing and minor places throughout the 2 days. African Drumming If you have any Djembe drums, could we please borrow them for the day, on Tuesday 2nd of May (next week), for our African Drumming workshop. Liam McCrohan STAMP/CHESS CLUB Stamp club and chess club will be starting for interested students next Tuesday at lunchtime. If you are interested in either stamp collecting or playing chess come along to the library. David Sullivan from our local church will be running the chess club and Mr Allison will be coming back to run stamp club! How lucky are we? WORKING BEE Don t forget that if you can t make it along to scheduled working bees but would like to help out, at another time, please come and see me. There is always plenty to do. YEAR Year 7 application forms have been handed out to our grade 6 students. Parents of grade 6 students are reminded to nominate their secondary schools and return the application form to school by 12 May. Please list three government school placement preferences on the application form if your are seeking a government secondary school place, as occasionally our school needs to nominate 2nd and 3rd preferences. Grade 5 parents are encouraged to attend the current round of information nights being offered by the local secondary schools to begin to get a feel for the schools that will suit your child. Kylie Richards Parents Fundraising Committee News Mothers Day Stall - Thursday, 11th May Entertainment Book 2017 / 2018 Gifts available up to $7.00 Please contact the office if you wish to purchase the new Entertainment Book. OUTCOME 1: Children have a Strong Sense of Identity/OUTCOME 2: Children are Connected with and Contribute to Their World: Indoor activities will be LEGO, Twister, Charades, stencilling, mobile making, recycled timber O & X s, beados, loom bracelet making, art/craft, dress ups etc. There is always time spent doing homework when required! (reading, writing). OUTCOME 2: Children are Connected with and Contribute to their World: In Term 2 we will continue to develop and care for our vegetable garden and decide what to grow next. It is wonderful to utilise what we grow in the meals prepared for OSHC. Children will create card and board games with recycled materials, wool crafts like finger knitting. Children continue to be involved with their All About Me Portfolios and Getting To Know Me doing their family tree, children/parent surveys and suggestions catch up sessions to make OSHC even better to come to and enjoy!! Over the Easter break Mel bought a bigger kitchen station and utensils for kids to play and explore with cooking/ preparation games and increased the Fairy reading box sets for all ages to enjoy. Lots of Loom Bands being made too! Our OSHC service has received an EXCELLENT overall result with its Assessment and Reporting visit from DET in October 2015 performing well in all of the seven Quality Improvement Areas, Meeting and Exceeding all National Quality Standard levels. OSHC REMINDERS SESSION BOOKINGS & CANCELLATIONS Any AFTERNOON session needs to be cancelled by 10am that day or full session rate applies. Any MORNING session needs to be cancelled by 6pm the day before or full session rate applies. Any Non-Attendance of BOOK- INGS (either through OSHCLUB website or with Melanie directly) for any MORNING or AFTERNOON session will be charged at the full session rate.
