1 PHONE: (972) Gerald Lee "Jerry" Kluber December 8, February 7, 2010 Gerald Lee "Jerry" Kluber, age 66 passed away peacefully at home on February 7, He was born on December 8, 1943 in Houston, Texas to William and Dixie Kluber. In 1963 Jerry graduated from Levelland High School where he excelled in football, basketball and track. Jerry is a 1968 graduate of Texas Tech University. He served in the United States Army as an Artillery Commander in Korea. Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dallas. During 1971 Jerry started his 27 years career as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. He protected Presidents from Richard Nixon through Bill Clinton, including George W. Bush as a son of the President. In 1974 he was assigned to the Presidential Protective Division to protect President Gerald Ford. Jerry was actively involved in protecting President Ford during two assassination attempts. Jerry is survived by his loving wife and long time caregiver, Theresa Williams Kluber of Frisco, Texas; mother, Dixie Kluber of Owensboro, Kentucky and his son, John Kluber of Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father William "Bill" Kluber. A Celebration Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas An article was written in the Frisco Style magazine about Jerry's career in the Secret Service. I met Jerry while in US Army signal officer training. We went to Korea at the same time, too. I flew across Korea to visit him the the very

2 weekend he became the commander of an artillery unit. Jerry was a leader. I know this because he was asked to command troops outside his branch of Army training! I was hoping to renew a friendship if I moved to Lubbock. I am truly sadden to learn in that he has passed. I went to school with him from elementary through high school in Levelland Texas. I just today learned of his death and am so sorry. He was a great guy and a lot of fun to be with. She always speaks of Jerry so lovingly and is so proud of him. If ever she is nervous or anxious, all I have to do is to get her to sit down and talk to me about Jerry and she immediately calms down and is okay again. Whether it was a grueling surveillance, a vital investigation, or a perspective enhancing Chili Cookoff, he made the situation bearable or successful or more fun than we federal agents are supposed to be capable of. He was part of a great team over there at the USSS. To close friends and family, I offer my heartfelt condolences. All our lives are richer from knowing Jerry. We, of the fraternity will be singin' songs around the campfire for years to come about our friend. I sold them their flooring. Jerry and I became friends. He shared many stories of his amazing career as a Secret Service Agent with me. Later, he gave me a post card that he had President Ford sign for me, It is one of my most prized positions. He also came to visit me in the hospital after I was in a serious automoble accident.
