So let s all get out and ride. I want to challenge every member to attend at least one ride every two months. Do you know of a ride we have not gone on yet or have not been on in a while tell one of the board members or Road Captains so we can add it to the Calendar for everyone to enjoy the ride. I m looking forward to being the Director this year. I hope with everyone s help we can get the great momentum going from Please either call, or talk to me if you have an idea to help us grow. Donna & I have not selected where we are going to for our state rally. Traveling to different rallies each year sure has been fun and great riding. We are also planning to do the Boggy Creek ride again in October. The Florida State HOG Rally will be October 26-29, 2016 in Lakeland. 2 Do It NOW! Just do it, works also. Procrastination is something some never overcome. You can wait to see if it happens at all, if you re patient enough. Wait to go Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve, make reservation New Year s Eve for dinner that evening? I d like to think that I m not as bad as others. But, as I m sure you will later note, and Dee will attest, there have been some things that I shove to the back burner. I like to think of procrastination as delay by process of prioritizing your list of items to accomplish. That is, not now... I m riding, I m changing my oil, watching the ball game, or maybe even. [insert your favorite task here.] While on our November trip to southern Texas and New Mexico we would delay all sorts of things. Let s not stop for the night... yet, we can make it to the next gas station, let s wait and find a camp site. Then the lessons hit home. "Motel hell" is the only place way down a dreary dark road with an ominous sky, the next gas station happens to be 30 miles away with less than 25 miles left in the tank, and the campground you finally locate turns out to be flooded. When it comes to safety, your spousal relationship, and the longevity of your bike, you may choose not to procrastinate, well, at least not yet. Living up to your poor choice of issues to delay can be painful but, it s nice when you re not riding alone so your buddy can run up the road, buy a $14 plastic gas can (worth $3), fill it with $8 of gas and only delay the journey by 45 min or so and all the time buffeting smiles and chuckles. All considered, at least I didn t have to walk or thumb a ride for gas. Need service? Hear a noise that is different? Did you find an issue that has gone from annoying to critical, leaving you stranded in the bad part of town, or as the cop put it, this is not a good area to be in. After assessing the problem is beyond your tools on board, don t hesitate to seek professional help from the local H-D dealer. Luckily the dealership was open until six, they kindly arranged a flat bed and provided a parking lot in which we set up our tent (way better than motel hell). In the spirit of my new found mantra, Do It Now, I just want to say these are the happenings that make trips memorable. Some curse them, I just say, that s the trip when we (I)... In closing, and without delay, I want to thank all who participated in the Toy Run to the Salvation Army on Saturday, Dec 12th. 3 From the desk of our Treasurer I hope everyone had a great Holiday season, It is hard to believe that 2016 is here already. We have added some new members over the holidays and I want to welcome them to our chapter. I also want thank those that attended our annual Christmas party it was a great evening, with great food and dancing. Annual Christmas Toy delivery to the Daytona Salvation Army I look forward to being your new Treasurer and hope that we continue to grow and have more rides than last year. Thank you for all the phone calls, texts and well wishes from everybody. For those of you who don't know, I went into the hospital on Tuesday and had open heart surgery on Friday the 18th. All you ladies about killed me at the Christmas Party. I was released on Tuesday and am now at my daughter s home in Edgewater, she s both warden and nurse, and doing a fantastic job of it too. I want to thank Mike Golding for stepping up and leading my scheduled ride on the 19th, sorry I couldn't be there, but I'm sure those who went had a lot more fun than I was having. I appreciate all the people attending the rides, so let s keep it up. Looking forward to the New Year, with lots of rides. P.S. Sorry to all the ladies I didn't get to dance with at the party, but looking forward to filling my dance card up for the party in '16 Tommy

4 Words from our Asst. Director Happy New Year. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I look forward to serving as your Asst. Director for One of the jobs of the Asst. director is to be the liaison for HOG Rallies. Well I can do one better. For the last 7 years I have served as Rally Treasurer so You all will be the first to know as things develop. Here is some of the latest news Evolution As many of you know, H.O.G. State Rallies began in the late 80 s. In the beginning, rally teams were a core group of six passionate H.O.G. members willing to dedicate their time and energy in creating a good time for H.O.G. members. As we ve moved forward, new activities were introduced that required the core team to grow. So with that growth, the need to add a couple positions became necessary. Today the H.O.G. rally teams are made up of the following positions: Rally Coordinator Rally Treasurer Rally Registration Coordinator Rally Secretary Rally Site Coordinator Rally event Coordinator Rally Volunteer Coordinator Rally Marketing Coordinator These individuals work together as a team along with the H.O.G. Regional Manager to evolve their plan into an active event that ultimately brings H.O.G. members together to ride and have fun. Earlier last year, we removed the word state from the name H.O.G. Rally. This opened the door for more creativity and eliminated some perceived barriers about these events, such as having to reside in the state where the rally is held. From changing the planning team s structure to changing the event s name, evolution of these rallies is always taking place. Additional examples of change include some areas throughout the U.S. merging individual rallies into one regional event as well as some rallies moving from stationary events to riding rallies. Along those same lines, rally length now varies from a day and half to as many as six or seven days. Something new for 2016, and still in the planning stages, is a ten-day H.O.G. rally. Talk about evolution! Here are a few more examples of how rallies are different now than just ten years ago: websites, Facebook pages, on-line rally registration and reminders to HOG members from H.O.G national about pre-registration deadlines via targeted blasts! What is the next evolution of these volunteer organized H.O.G. events? Only time will tell, but be assured the evolution will always have a focus on improvement and quality and of course, input from H.O.G. members! Ken

5 Words from our Secretary Wow, was it just me or did 2015 go by quick? We had some really great events and rides in 2015, hopefully 2016 will be as good if not better. I d like to thank (I think) Becky for nominating me to be secretary this year. And hopefully I won t kill Harrell when he tries to show me all my job duties. If he makes it to the first meeting, then all went well. For those of you who did not attend the Christmas Party, you missed a really good time. And for those of you who did, wasn t the food and atmosphere great. The pictures from the party on the web site, go check them out. With our head road captain out of commission for a while, if anyone has a ride that you would like to do, please get with any of the board members to get it on the calendar. And speaking of the head road captain, I would like to thank all of that keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I had his phone that one night, and the texts and phone calls wanting to check up on him was overwhelming. Oh, and if any of you see me out on his bike, trust me, he knows.
