1 Dunellen Public Schools Dunellen, New Jersey 19: 4-9 District Goals To select, customize, and install a new security system district-wide. The state of the art system will be tailored to meet the security needs of a 21 st century public school district, and meet the specific needs of Dunellen High School, Lincoln Middle School, John P. Faber Elementary School, and Columbia Park. Concurrently we will develop new emergency plans for the district and the individual schools to complement the new security system. To develop a strategic plan that will address the increase in student population that is anticipated from the redevelopment of the Art Color site. The plan will provide for changes needed in personnel, equipment/supplies, and the physical plant that will comfortably meet the needs of a growing student population, their parents, and the community at large. To develop a comprehensive plan that will design the specifications for the installation of a turf field at Columbia Park. The plan will include selection of the surface, sport specific playing lines, and the installation of a refurbished or new track. New bleachers on the visitors side will be included to accommodate more spectators as well as a plan to facilitate better crowd flow throughout the complex. To include the use of more specific data to help classroom teachers improve their pedagogical skills and increase student learning. The data will include PARCC scores, SAT & ACT scores, and individual classroom data. It will be a cornerstone of discussions at department meetings, grade level meetings, and faculty meetings. A point of emphasis for professional development will be helping teachers learn how to use both individual and class-wide data to drive their instruction. Questions/Comments from Public Agenda Items The Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest. In support of this position, the law establishes a period of public comment at every public Board meeting. Individuals wishing to speak must state their name and address. Comments can be limited to five minutes duration, but an individual may speak a second time after all others who wish to speak on the topic have been heard. All statements and/or questions shall be directed to the presiding officer and no participant may address or question Board members individually. All speakers are requested to express themselves in a civil manner, with due respect for the dignity and privacy rights of others whose legal rights may be affected. Please note: While it is not the Board s intention to stifle comment on matters of legitimate concern to the school community, the public should be aware that if their statements violate the rights of others under the law governing defamation or invasion of privacy, they may face personal liability to the injured party. Award of Bid Sanitary Line Replacement and Toilet Renovations WHEREAS, the Board of Education, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-1, et seq., publicly advertised and solicited for sealed bids for Sanitary Line Replacement and Toilet Renovations at Dunellen High School; and WHEREAS, in accordance with that advertisement, the bids were received, publicly opened and read aloud at the Board office on April 4, 2019; and WHEREAS, Straight Edge Construction, Inc. submitted a bid in the amount of $818,047 and WHEREAS, the Dunellen Board of Education has designated Spiezle Architectural Group as the Design Consultants for the Sanitary Line Replacement and Toilet Renovation at Dunellen High School; and WHEREAS, Speizle Architectural Group has provided a written recommendation to award the bid for the Sanitary Line Replacement and Toilet Renovation at Dunellen High School to Straight Edge Construction, Inc. and; WHEREAS, District counsel has reviewed the packet of Straight Edge Construction, Inc. and has deemed it complete in accordance with the specifications for the Sanitary Line Replacement and Toilet Renovation at Dunellen High School; and WHEREAS, the School Business Administrator has certified the availability of funds for the Contract; and WHEREAS, Straight Edge Construction, Inc. has been deemed to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the Project; and WHEREAS, the total cost of the Project is under the project s budgeted amount; and NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Education, that the bid be awarded as follows to: Straight Edge Construction, Inc., 2517 Highway 35, Building F-103, Manasquan, NJ 08736, in the amount of $818,047 subject to the terms and conditions of the bid specifications. Approval of the Comprehensive Equity Plan Authorize the Superintendent of Schools to submit the attached Comprehensive Equity Plan to the New Jersey Department of Education. The school district will achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable laws, codes and regulations governing equity in education including, but not limited to: N.J.S.A.18A:36-20; N.J.S.A.10:5; N.J.A.C. 6A:7; Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A.) of B.
