As always, there is something for everyone in this Clover Print. From Volunteer Trainings to Workshops and Mini Activities, autumn will bring tons of 4-H fun! Please support our Harrison County Junior Master Naturalist as they build wildlife habitat for barn owls! And mini members, you ll learn how to have great manners from Mrs. Sallie Plass, as she teaches us Mini Etiquette. Teens, it s never too early to learn how to grow your money. And parents, please rsvp to our college preparation night, grade levels 9-12 are invited. Interested in learning how to prepare a winning 4-H scholarship resume? I m glad to work with you one-on-one! 4 2015 North Central Region 4-H Volunteer e-forum held at Harrison County Extension Building The Heart of Belonging 4-H leaders will learn how to guide youth in developing a list of club expectations that accommodates all members, learn how to support youth with special needs, and discover resources to help them in their role as caring adults.-thursday, October 8, 7:00pm Indiana State 4-H Congress For Youth and Volunteers Please let Rebecca know if you would like to attend this event. Cost is $25 and you must be registered through 4-H Online. Why Volunteer? I often ask myself this question, especially when I m tired, worn out and think Who Cares? Then there is a divine intervention: a thank you note that makes me laugh or cry, a call from a former 4-Her in college who just wants to say hello, seeing an experienced 4-H member helping a younger member, and adults, those with 4-Hers and those without, coming together to make an event successful. In the past I ve asked myself, Why not volunteer for just one more year? That just one more year has turned into many. As 4-H volunteers, we give back to the community by teaching the children to give back through volunteering. This year three of the Horse and Pony committee volunteers were former 4-Hers. These three either didn t have children or had children not yet old enough to participate in the 4 -H mini program. The parents of these three volunteers, also volunteered. Need I say more? 4-H isn t just for the kids. 4-H isn t just a single event. 4-H is a year long, life long program that needs volunteers to make it successful. It is necessary for adults, whether or not they are 4-H parents, to take the responsibility to teach our youth how important it is to learn, to participate, and to give back. Think about what 4-H or the world would be like if volunteers didn t pass on these values. The best part of being a volunteer is that you ll always get paid back tenfold. And though at times I get tired and grouchy, I continue to volunteer because I know it makes a difference. ~ Katy Casper If you have not yet picked up your volunteer gift, please stop by the office! 4

Please RSVP. The 2015 National Youth Science Day Experiment, Motion Commotion, empowers youth to explore the physics of motion and distracted driving. Developed by Oregon State University Cooperative Extension, this exciting activity will combine a speeding car collision and a distracted driving demonstration in a simulated activity that investigates the physical and human factors of motion. 11 The Junior Leaders are sponsoring a Club Officer Training provided by Purdue Collegiate 4-H Tentative Date November 14th. All club officers or aspiring club officers and club leaders/volunteers are encouraged to attend. If you visit 4-H.org you will find that the Corydon Tractor Supply Company store was 3rd place in paper clover sales this spring in the state of Indiana! Club Leaders and Members, let s help them reach first place this fall! Contact Rebecca to set up a club fund raiser and paper clover sale with our local Tractor Supply! 65% of these funds directly impact our 4-H program! 11
