2 Guest Speakers Phil Rizzo Matt Herman (NSRO Bid) Mike Broetzmann came and personally invited the Resident Hall Council to the February 16 th SSA meeting. The meeting will be held in the terrace and be open to all students to learn about the Memorial Student Center Remodeling Design Plans. NSRO National Service Recognition Organization. Matt Herman spoke to the council in requesting support for bidding to have UW Stout to host NSRO on campus. The following information is from power point presented by Matt Herman and Rachel Wendorf. Some of our reasons for bidding: More recognizable office with easier use in ordering merchandise, easier tracking system, and better communications to member schools and also when contacting the NRSO staff We would like to involve students living on campus with this great leadership opportunity. It is our goal to have at least one freshman on staff since this is a 2-3 year commitment. By hosting this office, we as a University are not only showing our support for the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, but we are also showing our continued support for student leadership on and off of this campus. Goals for the office: Automate the whole sales and payment process to an online shopping cart with payment Make the office more well known and a greater service to member schools Page 2

Hannah Rosenthal What is your main reason for bidding for this office? Matt Herman The NSRO could be improved in many ways like the online system and we have great ideas to improve NSRO. NSRO also provides a great place for student leaders at UW Stout and would UW Stout would be well represented at a national level.

He also went to a meeting on Friday where they discussed Health and Safety on Stouts Campus. Some facts he found out was that UW Stout is looking into a new Health Care Plan, also parking permits are going to be going up in price to cover past/current/ and upcoming renovations. Chris Lunde would like everyone to him (lundec@my.uwstout.edu) with your schedules so that he can plan the first Relay meeting. You bring the ideas, he ll bring the candy! Also, he promises NO FRIDAY MEETINGS!! Keep on keepin on! Corey Van Der Weele would like to thank everyone who submitted their reports already and wants to remind everyone that reports should be submitted by 8 p.m.. Keep in mind there are lots of leadership opportunities on campus and to think about what you want to do next year on campus. There are going to be executive positions opening up and she has been working on the election material so look forward to that! Trey King would like to meet with the ADHOC after the meeting to finalize the T-Shirt Design. This past Sunday he also had a productive WURHA meeting and wants everyone to get excited about role call which will be presented in the next week. Matt Herman is working on the display in the commons. It is going to be a what is RHA board with informative information. He is also working on updating a few things on the website and some other side projects. Dana Fritz strongly encourages you to look into Career Services Workshops that are coming up in the next few weeks. Andrea Fults, Dana Fritz & Ben Markl (University Housing Student Leadership Committee) facilitated the L.E.a.D. (Leadership Education and Development) retreat this past weekend for emerging leaders in the residence halls. It was an overnight retreat held at Camp Pepin filled with leadership activities. The participants had a lot of fun and it was a success. You may see some of the attendees here in RHA or other positions in the future. At last week s meeting, Leadership and Events reintroduced each other, and began to come up with some ideas for events. Leadership & Events is also working on finding a few different ways to get more people involved in Leadership and Events such as moving the meeting into the Sunken Lounge. We went over the planning for the recycling competition we will be doing. The stout at hand committee decided that the points will be given off of 3 things batteries, shoes, and ink cartridges. Other than that we've had a great week. New faces Vinny Chris, and Chris, it was nice to see some new people. NRHH had a meeting this last Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Red Cedar. They made several changes to their constitution, discussed goals, and talked about ways we could go about improving our organization for this upcoming semester. They will be busy in the following weeks working on planning events and recruitment for this spring. Austin Lee and the RHA Executives are looking for a senator and a representative. Student Union Renovation is having their first meeting of the semester Wednesday.

ADHOC Committee is having their meeting after the general RHA meeting. AFM has deiced not to change their meeting time for this semester. At the meeting they discussed future events including possible toga and super bowl parties. AFM also wanted to become involved within some community volunteering. Nothing is permanent at this time but the ideas that they talked about will be discussed in the near future. CK talked about our goals for this semester which included talking about what they can improve on and what they did well last semester. They also talked about our next event which is going to be held on Febuary 11th at 7PM. CK will have candy heart BINGO and will have prizes, punch, and chocolate. CK also talked about having a hall director from x2 buildings coming and talking to freshmen about the changes that will happen next year that differs from living in an fye building. No Report. MC has not yet had a meeting but will be having out first of the semester tomorrow Tuesday the 2nd from 8:30-10 p.m. South Hall is planning on there first HEC meeting at the Stout Ale House. TO is planning a Valentine s day event and working on their T-Shirts. Fleming will be meeting as a HEC exec tonight after our RHA meeting to discuss what they want to do for their hall in the month of February. JTC is planning a Superbowl party with pizza, snacks and drinks. North did not have a meeting this past week. North Hall is going to be deciding if we are going to be keeping our meeting time and day, which i s going to be decided tomorrow night at our meeting which is going to be starting at 7:30. Our meeting is open to anyone who would like to join us, our meetings are held in the basement in the room with the big TV and the piano. Red Cedar HEC did not meet last week. Wigen put the finishing touches on the biggest loser game which included putting up the posters. The first weigh-in is on the 8th. Wigen also discussed a superbowl party and will be having pizza, chips, pop, juice, chexmix, apples, etc... as well as a superbowl game. They also started work on an anti-valentines day party where they are going to finish leftovers from the super bowl party, and watch scary movies. Page 5

6 Hot Topics Dana Fritz suggested this to be a good time to discuss NRSO Amanda Sharp asked Matt Herman to expand on what NRSO is? Matt Herman explained how NRSO is an Award based Office that also organizes OTMS and other recognitions. Dana Frits asked Matt Herman what OTMs are? Matt Herman explained that OTMS are of the months that recognize leaders on campus. Hannah Rosenthal explained that NSRO is a student led organization on campus. Amanda Sharp asked how many positions Matt Herman is looking to fill for NSRO? Matt Herman explained he is looking for two more positions, preferably freshman. Justin Hanger was wondering how many other schools are bidding? Matt Herman said they didn t know yet Justin Hanger also asked what the 600 is for? Matt Herman explained that this is startup costs. Ryan Rodi stated NRHHs support for this bid and that it s a great opportunity for UW Stouts campus Austin Lee explained there is about 3000 dollars left in the budget and it is up to the council to decide how to use it Unfinished Business New Business None Justin Hanger moved to give NSRO bid team 600 dollars. Seconded by Jessica Stevens and was voted to the table with a vote. Announcements - Austin Lee liked to show would like everyone to contact the RHA executive board if they would like to step up in leadership position. - The RHA Exec Board gave out you rocks to Justin Hanger, Phil Hoepner, Tegan Moersfelder, Kelle Rasmum, and Julia Heck - Chris Lunde would like anyone interested or involved in Relay for Life to meet with him after the meeting and needs everyone s schedules. - Trey King would like everyone to stop up front for ADHOC after the meeting, WURHA Delegates should check their , and WURHA President is present.
