2 PAGE 2 Youth Archery was held on August 12th. 7 kids enjoyed the great weather & 3D targets, including the always popular velociraptor. Big thanks to the volunteers who helped make this a great day for the kids. Also, thanks to John Wiseman for taking the great pics!

3 PAGE 3 Saturday, Sept 22nd, National Hunting and Fishing Day was celebrated at PCSI. We brought out the clays trailer for Youth and Ladies who shot at No Charge. Great turn-out!

4 PAGE 4 One Saturday in June by John Wiseman I joined Pickaway County Sportsmen Inc. this year. I have never been a gun club member anywhere, although I am an avid shooter and gun enthusiast. Probably more of a gun enthusiast than I can truly afford. When making the decision to join the club I not only wanted a safe, private place to shoot, but I also wanted to be able to get involved with an active organization and THIS IS AN ACTIVE ORGANIZATION! My problem was how to get involved. I am not a builder or carpenter. I am also not an electrician or painter. I work in the area of education, Information Technology and imaging. This means my contribution will be in photography, video production, and creating digital content. So, I plan to attend many events this shooting season. I will write articles and create content to post in both the newsletter and social media for Pickaway County Sportsmen Inc. Having said all that..i attended my first matches this morning and could not wait to write about it. Today is June 23, There are two events scheduled today, Action Pistol on ranges and Shotgun Clay Birds on range 8. We decided to visit the Action Pistol competition first. They had already finished the first stage, which was on range 4 and were deep into the second round, shooting at a moving target on range 3. Shooters were using both autos and revolvers. Some had optics while others used open iron sights. However, they all seemed to be having a great time! I believe there were six shooters, room for plenty more when they have their next match July 28. If you are interested contact Match Director, David Anthony (614) Next, we walked down to range 8 where a group of six were shooting Clay Birds. Everyone enjoyed watching the birds. Some flew in a nice high arc while others shot more quickly away simulating a game bird. Even some were rabbits, which are birds rolled vertically across the grass. As one round ended, and another was about to begin, a local family arrived to add to the fun and to the competition! What a fun way to spend a Saturday with friends and family. 5 PAGE 5 4-H by Heidi Dunn Have you ever been on the Ranges on a Monday night? Did you wonder where all those youth came from? PCSI shows dedication to today s youth by allowing the Pickaway Shooting Sports 4-H Club (PSS) to utilize the ranges. PSS meets on Monday evenings throughout the school year. The Shooting Sports purpose is To teach life skills to 4-H youth through the shooting sports curriculum and activities that will enable boys and girls to reach fullest potential as capable, caring and contributing citizens. Several of the club members are offspring of PCSI members. This includes Serrick Dunn and Baylor Dunn. Through 4-H, they have both expanded their knowledge of Shooting Sports, improved their speaking skills, and gained leadership experience. Both have earned the honor of presenting their Shooting Sports projects at the State Fair level. Serrick is a Junior at Eastland Career Center. He has passed the 4-H Certified Junior Advisor course in both Rifle and Pistol. He won First Place in Pistol, Senior at the 2018 Pickaway County Fair and represented Pickaway County at the 2018 Ohio State Fair. He also competed in the Shooting Sports Speaking Contest where he presented a thorough demonstration on Reloading. Baylor Dunn is a Freshman at Teays Valley High School. She has earned 4-H Certified Junior Advisor status in Living History and Pistol. She won First Place at the 2018 Pickaway County Fair in several projects including Living History, Junior and Pistol, Junior. State Fair rules limit 4-H members to presenting one Shooting Sports project. Baylor chose to present her Pistol project. Serrick and Baylor would like to thank PCSI members/4-h Shooting Sport Advisors Jeff Scudder, Rick Lear, Doug Burke and Shirley Lear for their contributions to 4-H Shooting Sports. These leaders are essential to the success of the PSS club members. Pickaway Shooting Sports 4-H Club meets at PCSI on Monday evenings thorough the school year. The new membership year begins January 1st. Seven basic disciplines are available: Archery, Muzzleloading, Hunting & Wildlife, Living History, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun. All disciplines are taught by Trained Certified Instructors. Serrick. Baylor

6 PAGE 6 Our new bridge is completed with a new oversize box culvert. Wolf Construction did a great job! No more flooding! Work ran from 8/27 to 8/31 with a few rain delays.

7 PAGE 7 Military Day with the SFA 45 & Ohio Green Beret 3 gun shoot Sept 28th Sept 30th 80 shooters, including 3 ladies from both the SFA 45 and 3 gunners competed in our 3d annual tribute to the family's, retirees and active members of the Ohio Green Beret's. A big thanks to Jason Conrad, Dan O'Carroll, and the many volunteers for this event. Some of the funds raised by the match fee go to scholarships for the soldiers kids, and family trips to Cedar Point. Prizes sourced included an M1-Garand, Sig 320, 30 lbs. of powder, and cash payouts. Competitors came from as far away as South Carolina. Mark Arnold, Brigadier General with the SFA 45's, is coming to our next meeting to share his gratitude for the support, hard work, and leadership of our Club and volunteer members during the 3 Gun Shoot.

11 PAGE 11 Sunday, Sept 30th, we had BBQ cookout for the Steel Team, hosted by Greg and Meredith Scott (The Trigger Group) It was attended by Brady, Ron, John, Alan, & Jamie. Not pictured Alyssa and Frank Gerraci. We tried our hand at some fancy clone Co2 pistols.
