Please remember that enrollment is not complete and you will not be covered with accident insurance until your online enrollment has been submitted and enrollment fees have been received by the Valley County Extension Office. The fee is $20 dollars for all youth ages Remember: Returning members should NOT create a new profile. Please call or astatz@uidaho.edu if you need assistance All members must complete the online enrollment and pay enrollment fee in order to be an active 4-H Member. BILL OF SALE-OWNERSHIP Form Reminder! Remember to have your Bill of Sale-Ownership Form signed when you purchase your market animals! We will be collecting the forms at initial weigh-in. The forms are available on the Valley County Extension website under 4-H Documents and Forms, Producer Aaffidavits & Health Records. Kathy Whitney is our go to leader for the Cayuse Camp, she will attend and help our Valley County horse youth. She will also support leaders in practice and clinics. 3

We hope this also helps clubs to look at the year ahead and schedule out their club events and meetings. 6 2017 University of Idaho 4-H and BLM Wild Horse Training Opportunity! Very excited about the first 2017 University of Idaho 4-H and BLM Wild Horse Training opportunity! See the dates below for the Idaho Horse Expo Event! Paperwork is attached. Please spread the word! February 15 --club paperwork due February pick up day for clubs April 1--Saturday trail challenge at BLM facility April 21, 22, 23, Horse Expo, Nampa April 23, adoption We are reviewing the Western Idaho Fair event in August. I will post info as we have it available. Carrie Johnson from the Gem/Boise County extension will distribute the info to the other counties. Please add the dates to your calendars! From the State 4-H office The University of Idaho State 4-H Youth Development Office has changed the age divisions for 4-H events. We will be adjusting our county 4-H events and fair age divisions accordingly. The new age classifications, based on age as of January 1st, are as follows: Cloverbuds Junior Intermediate Senior 5-7 years old 8-10 years old years old years old New Record Books and Curriculum for Cooking and Sewing are here! Check them out on our website or request your copy! Bee Keeping Essay Please visit the following link for more information on the rules and regulations regarding the National Beekeeping Essay Contest Please share with those youth who may be interested. All submissions need to be sent to the UI 4-H address: fourh@uidaho.edu by February 15th for review. The contestant with the winning state essay will be notified by March 1st that their essay has been submitted into the National Contest. 6

7 New Livestock Project Checklists There is a big change for Beef, Market Goat, Sheep, and Swine books. Starting this year, CCS books will no longer be used for these four projects. Instead a skills check list will be put in place of CCS in every youth s record book for those four species. 4-H Leaders are being provided with lesson plans for activities to do at club meetings. These lesson plans will help youth learn in a more hands on way about their species. This is a big change for all of us. If you have any questions, please ask your 4-H leader or contact the Extension Office. We will be more than happy to help you through this change! The Livestock Lesson Plans and Checklists can be found at under Animal Science Lesson Plans. New Livestock Curriculum Training will be held on January The Donnelly Fire Station, 6pm. Help Leaders Council with Winter Carnival Fundraising! Winter Carnival is an important fundraising opportunity. Your support of these fundraising activities helps ensure that our youth can receive scholarships to participate in camps, conferences, and other 4-H activities including awards that are given at Fair. Every Club will need to be represented at our 4-H Booth during Winter Carnival. More scheduling information will be available at The Leaders Council meeting on January 6pm. We welcome you to bring baked goods to help raise additional monies for this fundraiser. Please drop off at the event booth by 9am on January 28th. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! 7
