Beginning of Year Update Reminder the Club Financial Summary for 2013 is due to the Extension Office January 6, Please either bring in a copy or to bruynis.5@osu.edu not the highland4h.osu.ed. Be watching your for the 2014 active club notification and beginning of the year packet. Enrollment forms for 2014 are available on the website: (There will not be re-enrollment forms for All members and advisors will need to fill out new enrollment forms.) 2 2 Ohio 4-H Conference (formerly the Ohio Volunteer & Teen Conference) The 2014 Ohio Volunteer & Teen Conference will be held March 8 at the Columbus Convention Center. This is a great educational opportunity for 4-H Youth and 4-H Advisors. Transportation will not be provided this year. Brown County was unable to share the cost of the bus. For more information contact Kathy. Club Constitution All clubs must use the constitution template for The constitution needs to be approved by the club and submitted to the Extension Office by May 15 with the Annual report. All reports need to be received on time to remain a club in good standing. The Constitution needs to be approved every year by the club but, only needs to be turned in when changes are made. All specific requirements of the club may be written in the club by-laws. Advisor Fingerprints Starting in 2014 all club advisors will be required to be finger printed once every 4 years. If you work for an employer where you are regularly finger printed please contact Kathy and see if we can coincide those schedules. Jr. Leadership Club Youth 13 and older who enjoy leadership opportunities are invites to join the Junior Leadership Club. Call the office for details on how to get involved Camp Dates Teen Winter Retreat, February 1-2 Counselor s College, March Spring Fling, May 2-3 Cloverbud Overnight Camp, May 31-June 1 STEM Camp, June 3-5 State Special Needs Camp, June Beginner Camp, June Teen Camp, June Jr. High Camp, June Jr. Shooting Sports Education Camp, June Cloverbud Day Camp, July 15 Sr. Shooting Sports education Camp, July 6-11 Camp Counselor Applications Counselors must be 14 as of January 1, New Counselors will need 24 hours training and returning counselors need 20 hours. Applications will be available at the Extension office or online at: Applications are due January 31, Junior Leadership members will be given priority.

3 3 Ohio 4-H Project Central Search for new and different projects to take Learn all about projects, what other people think of it, and view sample pages Rate a project you have already taken and share your feedback Please take time to rate the projects you have taken! This will give feedback to 4-H Educators as they continue to update and create new projects. See attachment to newsletter for more information Family Guides The 2014 Family Guide is available online at Copies are also available in the Extension Office. State Fair Style Review Photos Photos from the 2013 State Fair Style Review are available at a581u1z. 4-H Camp Open House Experience camp for yourself! May 18, 2014 from 12:00 4:00 p.m. at Canter s Cave 4-H Camp; 1362 Cave s Rd; Jackson, Ohio. Join us at this free event for food & outdoor activities! See attached flyer for additional information. Camp Counselor College Counselor College is open to any teen who would like to be a camp counselor. Sessions are based on years of counseling experience. Classes will consist of some required sessions along with some electives! All sessions are interactive and most are hands-on. Come ready to participate, meet new friends from all over Ohio and have fun! Registration Deadline: February 27, 2014 to the Highland County Extension Office The forms will be available at: Financial Summary The 4-H Club Financial Summary has been updated this year. The new form can be found at Old forms will not be accepted. The form should cover the entire 2013 calendar year. Deadline for submission of the form to the OSU Extension, Highland County office has been extended to Monday, January 6, 2014.

4 Scholarship Opportunities 4 Highland County 4-H members are eligible for several county and state 4-H scholarships. The individual scholarship requirements are different. Visit the website for scholarship eligibility requirements and applications: The 4-H Endowment, Fettro, Hudson, Five Point Implement and Tissot scholarships are due February 20, Information When sending an to Tami or Kathy, make sure you are using their OSU (combs.155@osu.edu or bruynis.5@osu.edu). The office does not receive the s sent as replies to the 4-H system. Facebook Don t forget to checkout facebook for up-todate 4-H happenings. You don t have to have a facebook account to get on the site and like it so it will notify you of updates.
