The program s guiding philosophy is comprised of key components including openness to new ideas, structured inquiry, research-based practice, systemic critique and reform, collaboration, critical self-reflection, embracing of inclusion & diversity, and ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. With a flexible schedule, students can attend full or part-time and have the opportunity to customize their program by including one or more certificates or a credential.

The program is designed around four major themes: consultation and collaboration; inclusion and diversity; authenticity, and reflection, which are embedded within each course. Fieldwork is a key component of the education program, but there is flexibility for those working full-time while attending graduate school.

The program meets the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) for curriculum content, clinical experience and overall program design.
