1 Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to Kansas State University College of Human Ecology B.S. in Personal Financial Planning Catalog Contact: Karen Pence Phone: Home Page: The Associate of Arts degree (A.A) at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the A.A. may select courses that satisfy both the A.A. degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the A.A. allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The A.A. degree requires completion of 6 credit hours. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses. *120 hours required for graduation with B.S in Personal Financial Planning at K-State. The College of Human Ecology at K-State offers a major in Personal Financial Planning with the following track options: Family Financial Planning, Sales, or Entrepreneurship. The Personal Financial Planning Program is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board), meaning you will not only earn your Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning, but upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the exam to earn the designation of Certified Financial Planner. This Personal Financial Planning Program is the only program at K-State that offers the educational requirements for the CFP designation. Transfer students must achieve a K-State GPA of 2. or higher on the first 1 or more hours of K-State course work to be able to continue in the Personal Financial Planning program. A maximum of 60 credit hours from a community college will be applied toward the bachelor s degree. General Education: K-State 8 Students who first enroll at K-State must meet the requirements of the K-State 8 General Education Program. The K-State 8 areas include: 1. Aesthetic Interpretations. Historical Perspectives 2. Empirical and Quantitative Reasoning 6. Human Diversity within the U.S.. Ethical Reasoning and Responsibility 7. Natural and Physical Sciences. Global Issues and Perspectives 8. Social Sciences PFP students will be in compliance with most of the K-State 8 requirements based on required courses for the major. An * next to the course indicates the course meets one of the K-State 8 requirements. Transfer students are required to cover all eight of the K-State areas. To assess information on designated courses for each area, see Courses equivalent to K-State 8 courses in the designated areas may be transferred to satisfy area requirements. I.
