3 Student Summary Introduction Each term, information used for student credit hour and reporting is taken from the census date enrollment file. Student (full-time equivalent) is calculated by dividing the total number of student credit hours generated during the summer term by 30 (30 student credit hours = 1 for the full year). Only resident instruction students are included in this report. Course credit is reassigned based on the funding of the instructor. For example, if an instructor teaches a course in Animal Sciences department but is paid by Biomedical Sciences, the student is reassigned from Animal Sciences to Biomedical Sciences Highlights from the Student Summary for the 2012 summer term: The total student for the 2012 summer term was 1,049.2 which was a 6% decrease over the 2011 summer term. Student decreased 2% from the 2008 summer term and 19% from the 2003 summer term. Natural Sciences generated the largest percentage of among the colleges with 27% followed by Liberal Arts with 26%. Seniors generated the largest percentage of among the student classes with 45% followed by Juniors with 25%. Mathematics generated the largest number of student among the departments, followed by Chemistry, Psychology, Clinical Sciences, and Health & Exercise Science. The courses with the largest production for summer 2012 were: Natural Resource Ecology & Measurements, Human Gross Anatomy, Internship in Health & Exercise Science, Principles of Human Physiology, and Internship in Human Dimension of Natural Resources. Resident students generated 82% of the total student. Upper level students (juniors and seniors) generated 49% of student. The percentage increases below include only departments with 10 or more in summer 2012: Departments with the largest percent increase in over the 2011 summer term were: Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (125%), School of Social Work (71%), Microbiology, Immunology, & Pathology (40%), Environmental & Radiological Health Sciences (36%), and Journalism & Technical Communication (31%). Departments with the largest percent increase in over the 2008 summer term were: Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (113%), Microbiology, Immunology, & Pathology (102%), Occupational Therapy (98%), Sociology (64%), and Chemistry (26%). Departments with the largest percent increase in over the 2003 summer term were: Occupational Therapy (206%), Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (198%), Biomedical Sciences (70%), Biology (33%), and Foreign Languages & Literature (31%). 2
