As state coordinator I arranged the state competitions among the nine districts in Colorado, bringing over 700 students grades 6-12 to the University of Colorado. I have written grants, created media packets, dealt with political leaders, and organized teacher workshops. Colorado History Day received over $19,500 in grants and donations during my tenure as state coordinator. Congressional representatives accepted invitations to the 2000 and 2001 state contests and presented awards. As part of History Day promotion, I placed stories and interviews with both the radio station 850 KOA Denver, and the Denver Rocky Mountain News.
