1 Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to Kansas State University College of Arts and Sciences, B.A. & B.S. General Requirements Catalog Contact: Deana Core/ Sonya Baker Phone: / Home Page: artsci.k state.edu The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) at is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the A.A. may select courses that satisfy both the A.A. degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor s degree at four year institutions. The electives within the A.A. allow students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The A.A. degree requires completion of 6 credit hours. The maximum number of hours from a community college that will be applied toward a bachelor s degree at most four year schools is 64. Meeting with a counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses. The College of Arts and Sciences is the home of the liberal arts and is the largest college at K State, offering more than 115 degree programs. The liberal arts include physical and biological sciences, the fine arts, the social sciences, the humanities and the quantitative disciplines. Undergraduate degrees offered in the College of Arts and Sciences are: bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts, bachelor of music, bachelor of music education and bachelor of science. A minimum of 120 credit hours are required for graduation. Up to half of the credits required for the degree may be accepted from a community college. Students must complete at least 0 resident credits to be considered for a degree. At least 20 of the last 0 hours must be completed at K State. All K State students, including transfer students, are required to successfully complete credit bearing courses/experiences to complete the K State 8 General Education Program requirements. For information, see state.edu/kstate8/lists/. Transfer courses evaluated as equivalent to K State 8 courses can be applied to meet K State 8 requirements. Students should consult with a counselor when planning their transfer course work, particularly in the areas of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, to allow for the university general education course work that must be taken at K State. 2 K-State College of Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements B.A./B.S.
