College Colloquium Writing Workshop Summer 2010 Facilitated by Gregory Colomb, Professor of Writing Studies at the University of Virginia, this workshop focused on ways to diagnose problems in student writing and to communicate with writers about what s wrong and how they can fix it. Willamette University Digital Humanities Workshop Summer 2009 Workshop showcasing the range of promising digital media and technology organizations, services, tools, and content providers available for classroom use and to engage in a theoretically and critically wellinformed conversation involving faculty, library staff, and WITS staff resulting in the articulation of a coherent strategic statement of the Future for Digital Humanities at Willamette. Willamette University s College Colloquium Teaching Workshops Spring 2009 Various workshops targeted to first year seminar instructors on writing assignments, syllabi development, successful classroom discussions, first-day engagement, and other issues particular to this introductory course. University of Colorado Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) Fall 2002-Spring 2005 Completed numerous training seminars where I participated in pedagogy discussions, learned about various teaching techniques, classroom management and uses of instructional technology. A consultant also twice observed and videotaped my class to provide me with feedback and advice for enhancing teaching and new instructional techniques. Teaching Sociology, SOCY 5615 Spring 2005 Three credit, graduate-level course focusing on developing skills and teaching techniques in the field of sociology. This course provided an opportunity to formulate my teaching philosophy and style of classroom instruction, as well as strategies for fostering deep learning.
