1 To: President DeCenzo IFC/PHC/NPHC Executive Boards Dr. Debbie Conner Chapter Presidents Dr. Ralph Byington Chapter Advisors Travis Overton National Offices Whitney Comer From: Ariel Tarosky, Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life Subject: Fraternity and Sorority Life Report, 2013 Date: March 12, 2014 Attached, please find the information on the twelve chapters that comprised the Fraternity & Sorority community at Coastal Carolina University for This report is shared with University administrators, faculty and staff, the fraternities and sororities, chapter advisors, chapter presidents, and International Offices as a way to raise awareness of the contributions to Coastal Carolina University made by our fraternities and sororities. In past semesters the Fraternity & Sorority Grade Report included size and academic data from the current semester and the semester prior. The hopes of this updated report will be to provide constituents with a snap-shot of the community s growth, retention, academics, involvement, service and charitable giving over a five-year span. With this data we will be able to have a better idea of how the community has progressed and what areas need to be focused on. This report highlights the achievements of last semester. In 2013, the fraternities and sororities contributed a reported total of 1,530 hours of community service. Unfortunately, a majority of the fraternities and sororities did not report their service hours or charitable giving; therefore, actual numbers are not included. Of the chapters who reported their involvement about 61% of members were involved in other campus organizations at Coastal Carolina University with about 11% of these students serving in leadership positions. Please note that these numbers are based off of our Standards of Excellence reporting, for which 3 of our 12 chapters were participants. In moving forward, it will be an expectation for 2014 that every chapter will submit the appropriate information Academically, six fraternities and sororities earned average QPAs at or above the university undergraduate average this. It is our hopes that this data will continue to grow and improve as it is a reflection of our fraternities and sororities core values. If you have any questions about the information contained in this report, please contact Ariel Tarosky at atarosky@coastal.edu or by phone at Ariel Tarosky Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life Attachment
