3 This 2 day event held April 26 and 27 at the National Arts Centre in downtown Ottawa will focus on Precision Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and will highlight recent advancements and breakthroughs in preventing and treating cardiovascular disease in a precise targeted manner. The conference will feature some of the latest in gene therapy and biomarkers, disease-in-a-dish modelling, patient-tailored therapeutics, sex and gender effects and personalized health innovations. The science will address impacts on cardiometabolic diseases, atherosclerosis, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. This accredited event will bring together translational scientists, clinician scientists, cardiologists and trainees in cardiovascular science, and will facilitate scientific dialogue, exchange of information, and networking that will enable international collaborative opportunities. Additional sessions outside of plenary lectures will include a trainee career networking event and a public lecture.

Keon, O.C., M.D., F.R.C.S.(C), founder of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, was one of the finest cardiac surgeons of his generation. He exhibited extraordinary compassion and courage throughout his remarkable career. His vision and leadership resulted in the evolution of the Heart Institute to a Canadian leader in cardiac care. In 1990 he was appointed Senator of the Parliament of Canada. The Lectureship is a permanent fund that enables us, annually, to bring the world s foremost experts in cardiovascular medicine and research to the Heart Institute for a formal exchange of ideas. Dialogue, the exchange of information and research will ultimately lead to the end of heart disease.
