Philosophy is one of the fundamental disciplines in academia. It is that discipline which studies the most basic issues, which also ties together the other disciplines. It sharpens critical thinking skills gives students an understing of the ideas that move society. The American Philosophical Association guidelines for philosophy majors emphasizes that there are four different models for the teaching of philosophy: the historical model, the field model, the problems model, the activity model; all of which are utilized in the Concordia philosophy minor.
