Counseled university students regarding a variety of personal, interpersonal, and academic issues. Performed intake, evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, and crisis intervention on campus. Designed and led twelve week interpersonal therapy group for undergraduate/graduate level students. Designed and implemented a therapy group targeting students with interpersonal skills deficits. Psychology Extern September 1989 July 1990 Northeast Community Mental Health Center Adult Outpatient Unit, Memphis TN Conducted intake, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy with individuals, couples, and families in emergency, crisis intervention, short and long term intervention modalities. Utilized vocational assessments to help students identify and integrate personal qualities with the requirements of specific job opportunities.

3 RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Conducted a study of factors which contribute to students' solicitation of Duke University mental health professionals for course withdrawal. Assessed candidates for Duke University Public Safety Officers through administration and interpretation of the "Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory" (MMPI) and the "Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Revised" (WAIS R). Graduate Research Assistant January 1989 June 1989 Center for the Study of Higher Education Coordinated institutional research project on student outcomes assessment at the University of Memphis. Conducted on site focus groups with the community for validation of Cumberland University mission statement. Collected, analyzed, compiled, and reported data to formulate recommendations for change in Cumberland University's name and mission statement. Group Counselor (practicum) September 1987 December 1988 Counseling Psychology Program Researched and presented paper on group applications for career counseling with the college population. Clinical Psychology Researcher (practicum) January 1987 December 1988 Psychology Department Assisted in planning research project studying the effects of insomnia on daytime sleepiness. Collected and coded data for sleep project. TESTING EXPERIENCE Testing Technician August 1987 May 1989 Center for Student Development Administered and scored institutional and National educational tests including TOEFL, MAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT as well as a variety of other assessment instruments. Scored personality and vocational assessments for the Career and Personal Counseling Units. Coordinated the administration of the "ACT College Outcomes Measures Project".

4 CONSULTING/OUTREACH EXPERIENCE Interim Director of College Counseling Center August 1991 December 1991 Guilford College, Greensboro NC Coordinated programming and outreach within the University community and to parents/families. Career Development Center Conducted "Self Assessment and Identifying Career Direction", a two part career workshop designed to facilitate career exploration and planning by assisting students in clarifying career interests and values. Conducted "Occupational Goals, Reflection, and Exploration: (OGRE), a two part career exploration group utilizing the "Self Directed Search, Occupations and Majors Finders, Dictionary of Holland Occupational Titles, and DISCOVER" career computer guidance system. Made career development presentations to staff and students. Delivered "Life After Duke" presentation to the Society of Women Engineers at Duke which addressed issues related to being a woman in a male dominated profession. Served as a consultant to the Duke University community (faculty, staff, and students' families) by providing information, referrals, and crisis intervention services. Provided programming and workshops for residence hall groups and served as a liaison between residence hall staff and Counseling and Psychological Services office. Facilitated group experience, "Learning How the Other Half Lives and Thinks", designed to explore myths and misperceptions about other gender/s and to explore gender stereotypes. Conducted peer counseling training for "PISCES" (Peer Information Service for Counseling and Education in Sexuality) and "PICAD" (Peer Information Counseling on Alcohol and Drugs) student counselors. Conducted peer counselor training for 115 Resident Assistants using role plays and group facilitation to provide information on crisis intervention, date rape, multicultural issues, and referral strategies. Implemented "Racism 101", an interactive group seminar designed to address issues of cultural diversity in the residence halls and on campus. Group Counselor (practicum) September 1987 December 1988 Counseling Psychology Program Developed and guided a task oriented group in designing a group for clients with substance abuse issues. Designed a group tasked to focus on developing communication skills and breaking down interpersonal barriers. Negotiated satisfactory resolution of complaints to avoid legal intervention in court and formulated contractual agreement. Conducted follow up interviews to enhance adherence to contract.
